TN Visa Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs
Licensed Practical Nurse roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA for Canadian and Mexican professionals with a diploma or certificate in practical nursing. For Canadians, the process is streamlined—employers provide a support letter, and you can obtain TN status directly at the U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals apply through a U.S. consulate with the same employer support letter.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Target hospital systems with recent visa sponsorship experience
Employers with recent visa filings for healthcare roles understand work visa sponsorship processes. Search for healthcare systems and long-term care networks with a track record of sponsoring foreign workers—this experience often signals openness to supporting TN candidates who meet role requirements.
Get your NCLEX-PN and state license before job hunting
Most U.S. employers won't extend a TN sponsorship offer until you hold an active state license. Pass the NCLEX-PN and apply for licensure in your target state early, since reciprocity timelines vary significantly by state.
Use Migrate Mate to find LPN roles with TN sponsorship
Filtering for TN-eligible nursing jobs manually is time-consuming. Migrate Mate surfaces LPN positions from employers already familiar with USMCA sponsorship, so you're not cold-pitching the TN process to HR teams unfamiliar with it.
Prepare your support letter before your border crossing
Canadian LPNs apply for TN status directly at the port of entry. Confirm your employer has prepared a detailed support letter specifying your role, duties, and qualifying credential before you travel.
Mexican LPN applicants must schedule a consular appointment
Unlike Canadians, Mexican nationals need a TN visa stamp from a U.S. consulate before starting work. Factor in consular appointment wait times for Ciudad Juárez or Monterrey and plan your start date with your employer accordingly.

Find Licensed Practical Nurse JobsLicensed Practical Nurse TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the LPN role actually qualify for a TN visa?
Yes. Licensed Practical Nurse is explicitly listed as a qualifying TN occupation under USMCA. You need a diploma or certificate in practical nursing from an accredited Canadian or Mexican institution, plus an active U.S. state license or proof of NCLEX-PN passage. The role title on your offer letter must align with the LPN classification.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for LPN roles?
The TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no lengthy USCIS petition queue, making it far more practical for LPNs than the H-1B. H-1B also requires a bachelor's degree as a baseline, while TN accepts a practical nursing diploma or certificate. For most Canadian and Mexican LPNs, TN is the faster, more accessible path.
Where can I find LPN employers who already understand TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to connect Canadian and Mexican professionals with U.S. employers who are familiar with USMCA visa categories. Searching there filters out employers who would need extensive education about the TN process, saving you time during outreach and offer negotiation.
Can I switch LPN employers after entering the U.S. on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your original employer. Before starting with a new employer, they must prepare a support letter and you'll need updated TN documentation. Canadian LPNs can present this support letter at a U.S. port of entry, while Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate with their employer's support letter.
Does my Canadian provincial or Mexican nursing credential transfer directly?
Your credential qualifies you to apply, but you still need to pass the NCLEX-PN and obtain a state nursing license to practice in the U.S. Many states require a credential evaluation through CGFNS or a state board-approved body. Start this process before job hunting, since licensing can take several months and most employers require it before sponsoring your TN.
