TN Visa Managing Director Jobs
Managing Director roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA when the position meets the economist or management consultant specialty occupation criteria. Canadian citizens can apply at the border or a U.S. consulate without a lottery. Mexican citizens require a consular appointment under the annual TN allocation.

- Hedging Program Fluency: Strong familiarity with standard industry hedging programs (static, dynamic, and macro-hedging). You must understand the daily workflows of a hedging team to effectively sell them a better solution.
- Regulatory Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of US statutory regulations, specifically VM-21, VM-22, and BSCR, and their implications for hedging strategy and capital optimization.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Managing Director
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
TN approval for Managing Director roles hinges on whether your degree aligns with economics, business management, or a related specialty. A general MBA works, but pairing it with a job offer letter that names specific analytic or consulting functions strengthens your case significantly.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Not every employer willing to hire a Managing Director has experience with work visa sponsorship. Prioritize mid-to-large companies with recent visa filings, as they already have HR infrastructure to support the sponsorship process without extensive internal education.
Search Managing Director roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for TN visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not guessing which employers will support your status. Use it to identify Managing Director openings where the employer has already indicated TN or USMCA sponsorship willingness.
Clarify the specialty occupation framing before signing
Before accepting an offer, confirm the employer will draft your support letter to emphasize functions like economic analysis, strategic consulting, or specialized management rather than generic executive oversight. The distinction determines whether a CBP officer approves or flags the petition.
Prepare dual-intent documentation if promotion is likely
TN status requires nonimmigrant intent, but Managing Director roles often come with green card discussions. Have documentation ready that separates your immediate TN purpose from any longer-term plans, and avoid signing any employer paperwork referencing permanent residency until your TN is approved.
Mexican nationals should apply at a U.S. consulate early
Unlike Canadians who can present TN documentation at a port of entry, Mexican nationals must secure a consular appointment, which can take weeks. Submit your DS-160 and fee payment as soon as your offer letter and support documents are finalized to avoid start-date delays.

Find Managing Director JobsManaging Director TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Managing Director role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is structured and documented. A Managing Director position qualifies for TN status when it falls under the economist or management consultant category, meaning your duties must involve specialized economic analysis, consulting functions, or management tied to a specific field of study. A generic executive role without a clear specialty occupation link is unlikely to satisfy the TN criteria at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Managing Directors compare to H-1B?
TN is generally faster and more predictable for this role. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no multi-month USCIS processing window. Canadians can receive TN approval at the port of entry the same day they present their documents. H-1B requires entering a lottery that accepts roughly one in five registrants, waiting through a full processing cycle, and paying significantly higher government fees. For a Managing Director with a qualifying specialty, TN is the more direct path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead that specifies your job title, your duties in terms consistent with a TN-qualifying category, your salary, your anticipated start date, and the professional basis for the offer. The letter should reference your educational credentials and explain why the role requires that specific specialty. Some CBP officers also ask for an organizational chart showing where the Managing Director position sits within the company structure.
Where can I find Managing Director jobs that already support TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. Rather than filtering through general job boards and cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with TN status, Migrate Mate surfaces Managing Director roles where employers have indicated openness to USMCA-based sponsorship. That saves you the back-and-forth of educating an HR team about TN requirements after you've already made it through the interview process.
Can a Managing Director on TN status move into a permanent residency process?
Yes, but the TN itself does not permit dual intent, so the sequencing matters. You can begin a PERM-based green card process through your employer while on TN status, but you must be careful about how that intent is documented. Many immigration attorneys recommend waiting until you are well established in the role and the employer has independently initiated sponsorship before filing any PERM-related paperwork.
