Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Pediatric Registered Nurse
Verify your NCLEX and state licensure first
TN visa sponsorship for pediatric RNs requires a current U.S. state nursing license, not just NCLEX passage. Some states require an SSN before issuing a license, so confirm your target state's requirements before accepting any offer.
Target children's hospitals with pediatric units
Freestanding children's hospitals and large academic medical centers with dedicated PICU, NICU, and pediatric oncology units hire internationally trained RNs regularly and are more familiar with TN sponsorship documentation than smaller community facilities.
Get your credential evaluation done early
Canadian and Mexican nursing degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency by CGFNS or a recognized credential evaluation service before most employers will extend an offer. Starting this process late is the most common cause of delayed start dates.
Search TN-eligible roles at employers with visa experience
Filter pediatric RN roles by employer visa sponsorship experience on Migrate Mate to avoid applying to positions where the employer isn't familiar with work visa processes or won't provide the required support letter.
Clarify who prepares the employer support letter
The TN application requires a detailed employer support letter confirming your job title, duties, and that the role qualifies as a professional occupation. Ask HR directly whether they've prepared one before and who owns that step internally.
Understand the difference between port-of-entry and consular processing
Canadian RNs can obtain TN status at a U.S. port of entry without a visa stamp. Mexican RNs must apply at a U.S. consulate and obtain a TN visa before entering. Knowing which process applies to you shapes your timeline after receiving an offer.
Pediatric Registered Nurse TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Pediatric RN role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Registered Nurses are explicitly listed as a qualifying TN occupation under USMCA. Your employer must confirm in a support letter that your role involves professional nursing duties and that you hold a valid U.S. state RN license. Pediatric specializations, including PICU, NICU, and pediatric oncology, all fall within the RN category.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Pediatric RN positions?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be approved at a port of entry the same day for Canadian citizens. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship months in advance, is subject to an annual lottery, and takes considerably longer to process. For pediatric RNs from Canada or Mexico, TN is a faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment.
How can I find Pediatric RN jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN-eligible roles in the U.S. You can filter by occupation, including Registered Nurse, and by sponsorship status to surface employers already familiar with the TN process. This saves time compared to applying broadly and then asking employers about sponsorship during interviews.
Can a Mexican RN apply for TN status the same way a Canadian RN does?
No. Canadian RNs can request TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with supporting documents. Mexican RNs must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and receive a visa stamp before entering the country. Both require an employer support letter and proof of a valid nursing license, but the process and timeline differ significantly.
What documents does my employer need to support my TN application as a Pediatric RN?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead describing your job title, duties, the professional nature of the role, and your start date. You'll also need to present your nursing license, NCLEX pass confirmation, and your nursing degree or credential evaluation. Many HR teams haven't done this before, so confirming internally who owns the letter is a practical first step.
