Create a safer, stronger, people‑first culture at a site ready for its next step forward. At Saint‑Gobain, safety isn’t just a requirement, it’s a shared value and a daily commitment. Our Akron facility is looking for a hands‑on, people‑centered EHS leader who thrives on the plant floor, connects naturally with employees at all levels, and knows how to translate standards into behaviors that stick.
This is an exciting and pivotal moment for Akron. You will love this role if you are:

- A coach and influencer who earns trust through presence, listening, and partnership.
- A strategic thinker who can balance immediate needs with long‑term vision.

Along with being a visible, people‑focused safety leader, the EHS Manager will play a critical role in shaping the long‑term direction of the Akron site:
- Align EHS priorities with site leadership goals, ensuring safety and sustainability are embedded in operations, process improvements, and decision‑making.
- Integrate leading indicators and risk‑based insights into strategic discussions, helping guide capital planning, equipment upgrades, and long‑term investments.
- Influence process improvements and equipment design, ensuring that safe operations are built into systems— not added after the fact.
- Champion Akron’s risk‑reduction roadmap, balancing quick wins with long‑term systemic improvements.
- Serve as a strategic partner on the Leadership Team, playing a key role in shaping culture, supporting organizational change, and driving performance across departments.
This role blends cultural leadership with strategic impact, giving the right person the opportunity to create immediate improvements while shaping the Akron facility for years to come.
- Lead and elevate our EHS culture, empowering employees and supervisors to take ownership of safe behaviors and daily decisions.
- Engage the workforce through coaching, mentoring, and meaningful presence on the production floor, building strong relationships in a union environment.
- Drive risk identification and reduction efforts, using visual tools, collaborative walk‑throughs, and problem‑solving to eliminate hazards.
- Guide the site’s compliance programs (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001), ensuring requirements are met while making processes clear and accessible to all employees.
- Lead incident investigations and root‑cause analysis with a focus on learning, transparency, and preventing repeat events.
- Develop and deliver dynamic EHS training, using demonstrations, storytelling, and hands‑on coaching to reinforce behaviors.
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and Corporate EHS to support continuous improvement aligned with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with outside stakeholders, including OSHA, EPA, first responders, and contractors.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental/Safety Sciences, or related field.
- 6–8 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment with proven success reducing injuries and strengthening culture.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations and ISO‑based systems; CSP preferred.
- Experience working with or supporting a union workforce is highly beneficial.
- A people‑first leadership style — visible, relatable, and collaborative.
- Ability to simplify technical requirements and communicate in a way that resonates with hourly teams.
- Comfort using digital tools, dashboards, and EHS platforms to drive insights and decisions.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Health And Safety Manager
Align your credentials to TN Engineer requirements
Health And Safety Managers typically qualify under the TN Engineer category. Confirm your degree is in engineering, industrial hygiene, or a directly related field before applying, as a mismatch in credential framing is the most common denial trigger.
Target employers with existing OSHA compliance programs
Employers operating under OSHA-regulated industries like manufacturing, construction, or energy are already structured around EHS roles. These organizations understand the specialty nature of the work and are far more likely to support TN sponsorship paperwork without internal resistance.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for TN-ready EHS roles
Search Migrate Mate to find Health And Safety Manager positions posted by employers with TN visa sponsorship history. Filtering by visa type upfront saves you from pursuing openings at companies unfamiliar with the TN process.
Prepare a detailed offer letter before any border appointment
Canadian nationals presenting at a port of entry need an offer letter that explicitly describes EHS duties, confirms the engineering or scientific nature of the role, and states your Canadian degree or equivalent. CBP officers use this letter to adjudicate eligibility on the spot.
Clarify Mexican TN cap timing with your employer early
Mexico's annual TN allocation resets each fiscal year. If you're a Mexican national and roles fill late in the cycle, your consular appointment may land in a period of limited availability. Raise this timeline with the hiring team before accepting an offer.
Request employer documentation of your supervisory EHS scope
If your role includes managing safety teams or setting compliance policy, have the employer document this authority in writing. TN adjudicators look for evidence the position requires specialized knowledge, not generalist management, so scope clarity protects you at renewal.

Find Health And Safety Manager JobsHealth And Safety Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Health And Safety Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the classification depends on how the role is framed. Health And Safety Managers typically qualify under the TN Engineer category when the position requires engineering or scientific knowledge applied to occupational safety. Roles framed as general HR or administrative management without a technical degree requirement may not meet the specialty occupation threshold CBP applies at adjudication.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Health And Safety Manager positions?
TN is generally faster and more predictable for this role. There is no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no multi-month wait for a start date. Canadian nationals can receive TN status same-day at a port of entry. H-1B requires a lottery selection in April and a fixed October 1 start date, which makes time-sensitive EHS hiring difficult for employers.
What documents does a Canadian Health And Safety Manager need to cross at the border?
You need your Canadian passport, a signed offer letter that details your EHS duties and confirms the engineering or scientific nature of the work, and proof of your qualifying degree. If your degree is in a field adjacent to occupational safety, such as chemistry or environmental science, bring a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a U.S. engineering degree.
Where can I find Health And Safety Manager jobs that already support TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Health And Safety Manager roles posted by employers with TN visa sponsorship history. Filtering by visa type at the start of your search removes the friction of pitching TN to employers who have never processed it before, which is one of the most common slowdowns in EHS hiring for Canadian and Mexican professionals.
Can a Mexican national on TN status renew their Health And Safety Manager visa indefinitely?
TN status is granted in three-year increments and can be renewed without a statutory limit, provided you maintain a qualifying job offer and continue to meet the specialty occupation criteria. Mexican nationals renew through a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. Each renewal is adjudicated independently, so your employer's offer letter must reflect your current actual duties, not a generic job description.
