Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Real Estate Development
Align your credentials to qualifying TN categories
Real Estate Development isn't a standalone TN category. Your role needs to map to an eligible classification like engineer, economist, or urban planner. Confirm your degree field matches the specific category your job duties support before applying.
Target developers with active federal project pipelines
Firms working on HUD-assisted, opportunity zone, or infrastructure-funded projects file more government-required documentation and are already accustomed to compliance paperwork, making them more receptive to TN sponsorship conversations.
Request a support letter that describes specific duties
CBP officers evaluate the support letter, not the job title. Ask your employer to describe your actual duties, the degree field required, and how your role meets the TN category definition, not just your seniority level.
Search for TN-sponsoring employers using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Real Estate Development roles by employers with TN visa sponsorship history, so you're targeting companies already familiar with the process rather than educating hiring managers from scratch.
Prepare for Canadian border entry with complete documentation
Canadians can apply for TN status directly at a port of entry without a consular appointment. Bring your support letter, degree transcripts, professional credentials, and the job offer in a single organized packet to avoid delays.
Distinguish your TN status from your authorization period
Your TN is typically granted for three years, but your I-94 controls how long you can actually stay and work. Confirm the I-94 end date matches your approval before starting employment to avoid an inadvertent status violation.

Find Real Estate Development JobsReal Estate Development TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Real Estate Development qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Real Estate Development is not listed as its own TN category, but many roles within the field qualify under adjacent categories. A project economist, civil or structural engineer, or urban planner working on development projects can each qualify if the job duties and your degree field align with the specific TN classification your employer selects.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Real Estate Development professionals?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be obtained at the border for Canadian citizens without waiting for USCIS adjudication. H-1B requires a lottery selection, months of processing, and employer-paid petition fees. For Canadian professionals who qualify under an eligible TN category, TN is a faster and more predictable path into a U.S. real estate development role.
How do I find Real Estate Development employers who sponsor TN visas?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Real Estate Development positions at companies with recent visa filings. This filters out employers unfamiliar with visa sponsorship generally and surfaces roles where the hiring team has hands-on experience navigating work visa processes, which often translates to smoother hiring timelines.
Can Mexican nationals get TN status for Real Estate Development jobs?
Yes, Mexican nationals are eligible for TN status under USMCA, but the process differs from Canadians. Mexicans must apply through a U.S. consulate in Mexico and obtain a TN visa stamp before entering, rather than applying at a port of entry. The qualifying occupation and documentation requirements are the same, and USCIS adjudicates petitions filed on behalf of Mexican TN applicants.
What happens to my TN status if my Real Estate Development project ends?
TN status is employer-specific, so if your position ends, your authorization to work for that employer ends with it. You have a short grace period after termination before your status lapses. You can start a new TN process with a different employer, but you cannot work for them until the new TN is approved or granted at the border.
