JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College of IST Cyber Security Lab has a wage payroll position open. We are looking for a research assistant who has expertise in the intersection of embedded systems security, program analysis, and system emulation. Accordingly, the researcher should have adequate experience in both program analysis and real-time embedded systems. This position involves part-time wage payroll employment.
Job duties to include:
- Identify and address the limitations of existing approaches to separating embedded software from its hardware dependencies.
- Develop a new analysis framework that recovers this boundary automatically from firmware.
- Conduct experiments to validate the framework.
- Write a technical report.
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $20.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer
Map your credentials to Computer Systems Analyst
TN visa approval for cybersecurity roles depends on fitting the Computer Systems Analyst category. Gather transcripts and certifications like CISSP or CISM that tie your technical background directly to the specific security engineering duties in the job description.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Focus your search on employers with recent visa filings who frequently hire cybersecurity professionals. Healthcare networks, financial institutions, and defense contractors regularly sponsor work visa holders and maintain established HR processes familiar with supporting international hiring. These employers understand visa sponsorship requirements and can prepare the support letter required for your TN application at the port of entry or U.S. consulate.
Search TN-sponsored roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Senior Cybersecurity Engineer jobs by TN visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers actively seeking Canadian and Mexican professionals, cutting out roles where you'd need to negotiate sponsorship from scratch.
Get a support letter that matches your role title
Your employer's TN support letter must describe duties that align with the Computer Systems Analyst definition. A mismatch between your job title and the letter's duty description is a common CBP denial trigger for cybersecurity engineers at the Canadian border.
Clarify your status before accepting contract roles
TN visa holders can work for third-party clients through staffing agencies, but your TN must name the petitioning employer, not the end client. Confirm before signing that the sponsoring company, not the client site, will appear as your TN employer of record.
Prepare for Canadian border entry with complete paperwork
Canadian citizens don't file with USCIS in advance. Bring your offer letter, support letter, degree credentials, and any professional certifications to the port of entry. CBP officers adjudicate TN petitions on the spot, so gaps in documentation cause delays at the border.
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Senior Cybersecurity Engineer qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Yes, but the role must be classified under the Computer Systems Analyst category listed in USMCA. Your employer's support letter needs to frame your duties around systems analysis, security architecture, or network security engineering. Job titles using words like 'analyst' or 'engineer' pass more consistently when the described duties align with that category's definition.
How does TN visa sponsorship for cybersecurity compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, which makes it a more predictable path than H-1B visa for qualified professionals. Canadians can get TN status approved at the border the same day. Mexican nationals require consular processing, which takes longer. H-1B allows dual intent and a clearer path to permanent residence, while TN does not.
What credentials does a Canadian or Mexican cybersecurity professional need for TN sponsorship?
You need a bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to the role, such as computer science, information systems, or cybersecurity. Professional certifications like CISSP or CISM can supplement your educational background but don't replace the degree requirement. CBP and consular officers assess whether your credentials directly support the duties in your employer's offer letter.
Where can I find Senior Cybersecurity Engineer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for TN-sponsored roles. You can filter by job title and visa type to find employers who are actively set up to sponsor TN applications, rather than spending time on roles where sponsorship isn't confirmed and you'd need to educate the hiring team.
Can a Canadian cybersecurity engineer work for multiple clients on a TN visa?
Your TN status ties to a single petitioning employer. If you work through a staffing or consulting firm, that firm must be named as your TN employer, not the end client. Working directly for a client not listed on your TN documentation puts your status at risk. Any employer change requires a new TN petition before you begin the new role.
