- Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and litigation affecting Checkr’s products and act as a thought leader, turning complex developments into actionable guidance for product teams and customers;
- Contribute to scaling the Product & Privacy legal function by improving processes, templates, and playbooks that help the team move faster and reduce friction.
What You Bring
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. bar;
- 7+ years of experience practicing law, with meaningful experience in product counseling, privacy, consumer protection and/or technology law (in-house experience strongly preferred);
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with product and engineering teams and deliver clear, actionable legal guidance to non-lawyers;
- Experience learning and understanding the complexities of highly regulated products;
- Ability to calibrate risk based on business objectives and stage of product, approaching legal counseling with a solutions-based response;
- Deep knowledge of consumer protection laws, global privacy frameworks, and product risk management, with a curiosity to deepen expertise in emerging areas such as AI and data governance;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a concise, approachable way; and
- A collaborative mindset, ownership mentality, and desire to grow within a scaling legal team.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.

- A fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Learning and development allowance
- Competitive cash and equity compensation, and opportunity for advancement
- 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Up to $25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Product Counsel
Verify your bar admission qualifies
TN attorney status requires membership in a bar with authority to practice law in your jurisdiction. A Canadian law degree alone won't suffice. Confirm your provincial or national bar admission is current and documented before applying.
Target in-house legal teams at product companies
Product counsel roles live inside tech, SaaS, and platform companies, not law firms. Focus your search on organizations with dedicated legal or trust-and-safety teams where in-house product attorneys are a standard hire, not an exception.
Request a TN support letter before signing
Before accepting an offer, confirm the employer will provide a detailed support letter describing your role as practicing law in a specialty area. Vague offer letters are the most common reason TN attorney applications are questioned at the border.
Prepare credential documentation specific to TN
Gather your law degree, bar admission certificate, and any product-focused legal experience letters. Mexican professionals applying at a U.S. consulate will need these documents organized for a visa appointment, not just a border crossing.
Use Migrate Mate to find experienced visa sponsors
Searching broadly wastes time on employers unfamiliar with visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces companies with recent visa filings, so you can focus on legal teams already experienced with supporting work visa candidates like you.
Understand the Mexican TN consular process
Mexican nationals cannot use the Canadian land-border TN process. You'll apply at a U.S. consulate and receive a visa stamp. Schedule your consulate appointment early, as wait times in Mexico City and Monterrey vary significantly by season.

Find Senior Product Counsel JobsSenior Product Counsel TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Product Counsel role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided your employer frames the role within the TN attorney occupational category. The position must require you to practice law, and you must hold a law degree and active bar admission in Canada or Mexico. Roles focused on legal strategy, product compliance, or contract negotiation for technology products typically meet this standard.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN is generally faster and more predictable for Senior Product Counsel positions. There is no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens. H-1B requires employer sponsorship, a lottery slot, and a wait of up to a year before you can start. TN status for Canadians can be granted at the border on the same day, making it the practical first choice for most legal professionals.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Senior Product Counsel jobs with TN sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters for employers with a history of sponsoring TN professionals. Rather than sorting through postings that never mention visa support, you can search roles where the employer is already familiar with the TN attorney category and the documentation it requires.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that describes your position, confirms it requires you to practice law, states your anticipated start date, and outlines your salary and employment terms. For Canadian professionals crossing at the land border, this letter plus your credentials go directly to CBP. Mexican nationals also need it for the consulate appointment.
Can I switch employers while on TN status as a product counsel?
You can change employers, but TN status is tied to a specific employer and position. You must begin a new TN application, either at the border or through USCIS, before or at the time you start with the new company. Starting work before your new TN is approved puts your status at risk, so coordinate the timing carefully with your new employer.
