Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Service Coordinator
Align your degree to the role title
TN visa classification lives or dies on the credential-to-job match. A degree in social work, psychology, or business administration supports a Service Coordinator filing; a general arts degree without a clear specialty connection can trigger a CBP or consular refusal.
Target employers with coordination-heavy operations
Healthcare networks, nonprofits, and government contractors routinely staff Service Coordinators and are familiar with TN sponsorship. Prioritize organizations that already employ other TN professionals, since their HR teams know the process and won't need educating.
Request a TN-specific offer letter before your start date
Your employer's offer letter must state your job title, duties, qualifying degree field, full-time status, and intended length of employment. A generic onboarding letter that omits specialty occupation language is the most common reason TN entries are questioned at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Searching broadly for Service Coordinator openings buries TN-eligible roles. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers open to TN sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions where immigration support is never on the table.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting the offer
Ask your prospective employer whether they're enrolled in E-Verify before you finalize acceptance. Some regulated sectors require it, and knowing upfront prevents delays after your TN entry, especially if your role involves federal contracts or state-funded programs.
Plan your Mexican consular appointment in advance
Mexican citizens must obtain their TN visa through a U.S. consulate, not at the border. Schedule your appointment only after your employer's support letter is finalized, since consular officers review the complete documentation package and a revised letter after booking restarts the process.
Service Coordinator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Service Coordinator role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is defined and what degree you hold. Service Coordinator positions that require a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, business administration, or a related specialty can qualify under the USMCA professional categories. Roles where any degree suffices regardless of field are harder to support, since TN requires a direct relationship between the position and a recognized professional discipline.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Service Coordinator positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you're not competing for a limited slot the way H-1B visa registrants are. Processing is also faster: Canadians can be admitted at the port of entry the same day with the right documents. The tradeoff is that TN is nonimmigrant only and can't be used as a direct path to a green card, whereas H-1B allows dual intent.
Can I switch employers after entering the U.S. on a TN visa as a Service Coordinator?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization for the new employer before you start working there. Canadian citizens can present a new offer letter and credentials at a port of entry to obtain a new TN admission. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate for a new visa stamp. You cannot simply transfer the existing TN status the way you can with an H-1B portability situation.
Where can I find Service Coordinator jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job searches don't filter for TN sponsorship specifically, which means you end up applying to roles where the employer has never considered it. Migrate Mate is built for this: it surfaces Service Coordinator openings from employers who are open to TN sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on positions that will never move forward on immigration support.
What happens if my TN status expires while I'm still working as a Service Coordinator?
TN status is granted in increments of up to three years and must be renewed before it expires. There's no automatic grace period for continued employment if the TN lapses, so your employer needs to file for renewal or you need to re-enter with new documents before your authorized period ends. Filing or re-entering late can create a period of unauthorized employment on your record.
