Become a part of our caring community
We are seeking a Senior User Interface Design Engineer to craft intuitive, high-trust digital experiences across our clinical tools and care-facing platforms. You'll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution within your product area — from discovery to pixel-perfect delivery — while bringing an AI-fluent mindset as design tooling evolves.
You'll join a lean, high-impact design team of two supporting design across all of CenterWell IT, reporting to the Director, Technology Solutions while aligning on design system and overall standards with the Lead UI Designer. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to solve complex healthcare workflows that reduce cognitive load for care teams and provide clarity for patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for assigned product verticals — from discovery through pixel-perfect delivery — including workflow design, information architecture, and interface design for data-dense, human-in-the-loop clinical workflows.
- Support and contribute to design systems, patterns, and scalable design standards.
- Present design recommendations and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and building alignment across teams.
- Build interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate complex interactions and validate user flows. Contribute to evolving how AI-assisted tools are incorporated into the design process as internal tooling access expands.
- Plan and execute qualitative user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions with users and stakeholders to validate design decisions and iterate rapidly.
- Accessibility & Health Literacy: Champion WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and plain-language design principles, ensuring interfaces are inclusive across varying levels of digital and health literacy.
- Healthcare & Compliance Focus: Design with deep sensitivity to privacy, patient trust, and regulatory requirements.
Use your skills to make an impact
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (UI/UX) delivering digital products, web applications, or complex enterprise platforms from concept to launch, with a strong portfolio of complex interfaces demonstrating visual hierarchy and clean execution for data-dense applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expert-level Figma skills (auto-layout, tokens, component variables, interactive prototyping).
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — bringing informed perspective and problem-solving to your product area while operating within established design system and standards.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguous requirements, and maintain high design quality and output in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Outstanding communication skills: able to articulate design decisions, present to cross-functional stakeholders, and discuss technical constraints and tradeoffs directly with engineers.
- Demonstrated success using design to improve business and customer outcomes, such as patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, or operational efficiency.
- AI Fluency: Understanding of how AI-driven features behave in-product (latency handling, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop workflows) and genuine interest in AI-assisted design tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing within clinical, healthcare, or health-tech environments, or in other regulated/high-stakes domains.
- Experience designing interfaces for complex data pipelines, dynamic real-time data, or decision-support tools.

Align your degree to the role explicitly
TN visa officers look for a direct connection between your degree field and the User Researcher title. A psychology, cognitive science, or human-computer interaction degree maps cleanly. An unrelated field, even with years of UX experience, creates unnecessary friction at the border.
Target employers with established UX research teams
Companies with dedicated UX research functions already understand what the role entails and can write a precise support letter. Organizations where User Researcher is a new function may struggle to articulate the specialty occupation case your TN filing needs.
Require a specific employer support letter
Your employer's letter must name your exact job title, your degree field, and why the role requires that background. A generic offer letter gets flagged. Clear language demonstrating how your degree directly connects to the role's professional requirements strengthens the document significantly.
Search TN-sponsored roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter User Researcher openings by employers with recent visa filings. Targeting companies experienced with visa sponsorship removes a major variable from your job search and shortens the path to TN approval at the border or consulate.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Canadian
Canadian citizens apply directly at the border, so you present your documents in real time to a CBP officer. Bring your degree credentials, the employer support letter, and your offer documentation in a single organized packet rather than relying on verbal explanations.
Understand Mexican citizens need consular processing
If you hold Mexican citizenship, you'll schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate rather than self-petitioning at the border. Factor consular appointment wait times into your start date negotiation with your employer so your timeline stays realistic.
User Researcher TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a User Researcher role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, User Researcher roles can qualify under the USMCA's Social Science professional category when the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as psychology, cognitive science, human factors, or a related discipline. The key is demonstrating that the role demands that specific educational background, not just any degree. A CBP officer or consular officer will assess whether your credentials and the job's requirements align.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for User Researcher positions?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can apply any time you have a job offer rather than waiting for a registration window each spring. H-1B visa selection is limited and lottery-based, which means qualified User Researchers are routinely unselected. Mexican citizens face a TN annual allocation, but the process still avoids the random lottery. TN status also renews in three-year increments with your employer's continued support.
Where can I find User Researcher jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search User Researcher openings filtered by employers who have a history of sponsoring TN visas. This matters because many job postings do not specify visa sponsorship availability, and targeting employers who have navigated the TN process before reduces the back-and-forth during offer negotiations. Starting your search with sponsorship history as a filter saves significant time.
What documents does a User Researcher need for a TN visa application?
You'll need a detailed employer support letter naming your job title, your specific duties, and why a degree in your field is required for the role. You'll also need proof of your degree, such as a diploma or official transcripts, and a valid passport. Canadian citizens present these directly to a CBP officer at the port of entry. Mexican citizens submit them as part of the consular visa application process.
Can I switch User Researcher employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before you start working there. Your TN status is employer-specific, so your current authorization does not transfer automatically. Canadian citizens can obtain a new TN at the port of entry when changing jobs. Mexican citizens need to return to a U.S. consulate or, in some cases, file for a change of status with USCIS while remaining in the country.
