Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Finance Systems Analyst to help us build the financial infrastructure behind one of the fastest-growing marketplaces in the world. Our finance systems team owns the tools and workflows that keep Whatnot's financial operations running. You’ll partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, Revenue, Tax, IT, and other teams to improve the way financial work gets done across Whatnot.
In this role, you’ll translate business needs into clear systems requirements, configure and improve finance applications, support integrations across our tool stack, and help automate manual processes as the company grows. You’ll be close to the details, but always tied to the outcome: faster financial operations, cleaner controls, better reporting, and systems that can scale with Whatnot’s pace.
- Improve core finance workflows across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, planning, and close by gathering requirements, mapping current-state processes, identifying pain points, and shipping practical systems improvements.
- Support configuration, testing, deployment, and ongoing administration of NetSuite and related finance tools by partnering with Finance, IT, Security, People, and external vendors.
- Reduce manual work and operational risk by building automations, improving workflows, documenting processes, and helping teams move from ad hoc workarounds to scalable systems.
- Help Finance leaders make better decisions by improving data quality, system reliability, reporting inputs, and the flow of information between finance applications and upstream or downstream systems.
- Drive projects from problem definition through rollout by managing requirements, tradeoffs, testing, change management, stakeholder communication, and post-launch iteration.
- Keep Whatnot moving fast while maintaining good systems hygiene, controls, and documentation where they matter most.
We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle hub.
You
People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they’re building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.
As our next Finance Systems Analyst, you should have 3+ years of experience working with business systems or finance systems in a fast-moving business, plus:
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting processes such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, close, revenue, procurement, or FP&A.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Zip configuration, workflows, saved searches, roles, permissions, forms, and basic administration.
- Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders, translating them into systems solutions, and driving projects through testing and launch.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You can get into the details, understand why a process is breaking, and propose a path forward without waiting for a perfect playbook.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences. You can explain tradeoffs, risks, and implementation options in plain language.
- Comfort working across multiple projects and priorities in a high-growth environment where the highest-impact work can change quickly.
- A low-ego, team-first approach. You’re willing to do the unglamorous work when it helps the team move faster.
- Curiosity about AI and automation, and a bias toward using modern tools to remove friction from daily work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with tools such as Navan, Ramp, Pigment, FloQast, Workday, Salesforce, Stripe, or similar systems.
- Experience supporting finance systems in a marketplace, ecommerce, fintech, payments, or high-volume transaction environment.
- Experience with integrations, APIs and MCPs, middleware (Workato, Zapier), data flows, or working closely with engineering teams.
- NetSuite certification or equivalent depth of hands-on NetSuite experience.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in VP Finance
Align your credentials to TN categories
VP Finance roles qualify under the Accountant TN visa category, which requires a CPA or a relevant bachelor's degree. Pull your official transcripts and credential evaluations before outreach so employers see a complete TN-ready package from the first conversation.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Search for employers with recent visa filings for finance roles. Companies experienced with visa sponsorship processes are more likely to move quickly through TN sponsorship discussions during the offer stage.
Frame sponsorship as a process question, not a risk
Canadian professionals can receive TN status at the land border in a single day, with no USCIS petition required. Positioning this upfront during recruiter conversations removes the lottery uncertainty that makes employers hesitate on H-1B visa sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate to filter VP Finance roles by sponsorship
Searching every job board for TN-eligible roles wastes hours on positions with no sponsorship path. Migrate Mate filters VP Finance openings by employers with recent visa filings, so your outreach focuses on realistic opportunities where sponsorship experience exists.
Prepare a TN support letter before final interviews
Your offer letter and employer support letter must describe the VP Finance role in terms that map to the Accountant TN category criteria. Ask your prospective employer to draft this with HR and legal before you reach the offer stage, not after.
Mexican nationals should request consular appointments early
TN visas for Mexican nationals require a consular interview and are subject to a 5,500 annual cap. Book your appointment through the U.S. Embassy as soon as your offer letter is finalized to avoid delays that could push your start date.
VP Finance TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a VP Finance role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, VP Finance roles typically qualify under the Accountant occupational category in the USMCA TN list. The position must require and the applicant must hold either a CPA designation or a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Roles that are primarily general management with incidental finance duties may face greater scrutiny from CBP officers, so your offer letter should clearly describe the financial analysis and reporting responsibilities central to the job.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for VP Finance roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian citizens, meaning a qualified Canadian can receive TN status at a land port of entry on the same day as their appointment. The H-1B requires registration in a lottery where selection is not guaranteed. For employers, TN sponsorship for a VP Finance role involves fewer steps, lower filing costs, and no multi-month wait for USCIS adjudication. The trade-off is that TN status cannot be used as a direct path to a green card the way H-1B can.
What documents does an employer need to sponsor a VP Finance TN applicant?
The employer must provide a signed offer letter that specifies the job title, a description of duties tied to the Accountant TN category, the intended period of employment, and confirmation that the applicant holds the required credentials. For Canadian applicants, this letter goes directly to the CBP officer at the port of entry alongside the applicant's degree or CPA credentials. No USCIS petition is filed in advance.
Where can I find VP Finance jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most job postings don't disclose TN sponsorship specifically because employers conflate it with H-1B. Migrate Mate filters VP Finance openings by employers with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring work visas, saving you from applying to companies that will stall once sponsorship comes up. Targeting employers with a track record of visa sponsorship is the most reliable signal of a realistic sponsorship path.
Can a Mexican national apply for TN sponsorship for a VP Finance role?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican nationals must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and are subject to the 5,500 annual cap on TN visas. The consular appointment can take several weeks to schedule, so timing your application relative to your start date matters. The documentation requirements are the same: an offer letter, degree credentials or CPA designation, and evidence that the role qualifies under the Accountant category.
