Training And Development Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a training and development in Rhode Island?
Most training and development roles in Rhode Island require a bachelor's degree in human resources, education, organizational psychology, or a closely related field. Rhode Island does not issue a state-specific license for training and development professionals, so employers rely on professional credentials such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or SHRM certification to screen candidates. Building a portfolio of instructional design samples and gaining experience through HR or teaching roles strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do training and developments make in Rhode Island?
Training and developments in Rhode Island earn a median of about $75,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,420 for the lowest 10% to over $151,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire training and developments in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring training and developments in Rhode Island include O'Reilly Auto Parts, CVS Health, and Goodyear, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of large hospital networks, universities, insurance carriers, and defense contractors means steady demand for professionals who can build compliance, onboarding, and leadership programs at scale.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most training and development jobs?
The most training and development openings in Rhode Island are in Cranston, Rhode Island, and Providence. Providence drives the majority of demand as the state's economic and educational center, home to major hospital systems, universities, financial institutions, and state government agencies, while Cranston and Woonsocket add volume through established manufacturing, insurance, and healthcare employer campuses located just outside the capital.
Are there remote training and development jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than many fields, because instructional design and e-learning development translate well to remote work. About 25% of training and development openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employers' comfort with virtual delivery of learning programs. Roles focused on curriculum design and learning technology tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while facilitation-heavy or onboarding roles typically require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a training and development in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a teaching, HR coordinator, or customer service role into a training assistant or onboarding specialist position. Large Rhode Island employers such as Lifespan Health System and Brown University regularly post entry-level training coordinator roles that prioritize communication skills and classroom or facilitation experience over a formal L&D background. Earning an ATD certificate or completing a free instructional design course and building two or three sample training modules as a portfolio gives candidates without direct experience a concrete credential to present.
Where can I find and apply to training and development jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to training and development jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and experience level, and apply directly to the listings that fit.
