DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Transition Partnership Program Supervisor, provide appropriate job placement services to clients of California Department of Rehabilitation who are selected from the District's special education programs, including learning handicapped and severely physically and/or emotionally handicapped students.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Develop employer outreach activities to acquaint them with Student Department of Rehabilitation client job candidates. E
- Prepare and disseminate program flyers, bulletins and job opportunities to teachers, counselors, student Department of Rehabilitation clients and parents. E
- Contact prospective employers and arrange interviews for student Department of Rehabilitation clients using the directives of the Individual Transition Plan goals and objectives. E
- Meet with the Program Coordinator, Lead Case Manager, Job Coach and Department of Rehabilitation counselor to approve job placements in accordance with Individual Transition Plan/individual Written Rehabilitation Plan goals and objectives. E
- Facilitate job interviews, placements and follow-up services for Department of Rehabilitation clients. E
- Monitor job sites and Job Coach activities. E
- Participate along with the Job Coach in employer in-services training related to the needs and awareness of the student Department of Rehabilitation client. E
- Facilitate on-the-job training placement as recommended by the Individual Written Rehabilitation Plan. E
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school Diploma.
- Two years of college level coursework in related field or comparable experience in working with handicapped or at-risk youth, preferably in an educational or social service agency setting.
LICENSE:
- Must possess valid California Driver's License.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Educational, vocational and social service agencies within the Bay Area, including local employment resources.
ABILITY TO:
- Work independently with high flexibility.
- Relate well with personnel from various private and public service agencies.
- Resolve problems.
- Provide support and guidance to qualified student/client populations.
