Entry Level Transportation Project Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level transportation project manager job?
Entry level transportation project manager roles typically look for candidates who can show hands-on exposure through internships, co-ops, or coursework in civil engineering, urban planning, logistics, or construction management. A strong academic project, a certificate in project management fundamentals, or demonstrated experience coordinating any kind of project gives you a real edge. Tailoring your resume to highlight planning, scheduling, and stakeholder communication skills helps you stand out at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level transportation project managers?
Companies hiring entry level transportation project managers right now include Walmart, Amazon, and Ryder System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The mix typically includes infrastructure consulting firms, public transit agencies, state departments of transportation, and engineering and construction companies that regularly bring on junior candidates to support active project pipelines.
Are there remote entry level transportation project manager jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level are on-site or hybrid given the field-coordination nature of transportation work. About 18% of entry level transportation project manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with those positions often focused on planning, documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication rather than direct site management.
Are these new grad transportation project manager jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior transportation project manager roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, treats internships or capstone projects as qualifying experience, or explicitly invites candidates to apply with a portfolio of academic or volunteer project work rather than requiring a long professional history.
Which industries hire the most entry level transportation project managers?
Entry Level transportation project manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Retail, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive junior hiring because they run large, multi-phase infrastructure and logistics projects that depend on early-career coordinators to support scheduling, documentation, and cross-team communication across long project timelines.
