Transportation Project Manager Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a transportation project manager job in Dallas?
Focus on Dallas's strongest hiring pockets: TxDOT District 18 contractors, DART capital projects, and the North Texas Tollway Authority supply chain. Engineering and construction management firms anchored along the Stemmons Corridor and in Las Colinas hire the most. Candidates with PMP certification, familiarity with Texas Standard Specifications for construction, and local government procurement experience move to the top of shortlists faster than those without Dallas-specific context.
Which companies hire transportation project managers in Dallas?
Dallas transportation project manager roles are posted by Garver, GFT, and AECOM and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The local market is anchored by civil engineering firms, regional transit authorities, and large general contractors supporting ongoing freeway and light-rail expansion across the metro.
Are there remote transportation project manager jobs in Dallas?
Yes, but selectively, since transportation project management is heavily site-dependent for construction inspection, field coordination, and stakeholder meetings. About 24% of transportation project manager openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to cluster in planning, environmental review, and grant administration roles rather than active construction oversight.
How can I get a transportation project manager job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is through assistant or junior project engineer roles at civil engineering consulting firms, where you support senior PMs on TxDOT or DART contracts and build hands-on exposure. Firms along the Stemmons Corridor and in Las Colinas regularly hire entry-level candidates with a civil engineering or construction management degree. Earning an Associate PM credential and volunteering on Dallas City Plan Commission community engagement events helps candidates stand out locally.
Which industries hire the most transportation project managers in Dallas?
The sectors hiring the most transportation project managers in Dallas are Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Transportation & Logistics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's position as a regional hub for highway expansion, DART light-rail buildout, and major freight corridor upgrades keeps engineering services and public infrastructure agencies as the steadiest sources of local demand.
