Program Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program coordinator in Texas?
Most program coordinator roles in Texas require at least a bachelor's degree in a field related to the program's focus, such as public health, social work, business administration, or education. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for the program coordinator title, but roles in health-related programs often expect a credential aligned with the field, such as a Certified Health Education Specialist designation or compliance training required by Texas Health and Human Services-funded organizations.
Which companies hire program coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring program coordinators in Texas right now include Terracon Consultants, Texas A&M University, and University of North Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large nonprofit sector, major academic medical centers, and state agency network make it one of the country's most consistent markets for this role.
Which Texas cities have the most program coordinator jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most program coordinator openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth lead because of their dense concentrations of hospital systems, nonprofit organizations, and corporate headquarters, while Austin's growth in state government agencies and tech-adjacent nonprofits has steadily increased its share of postings.
Are there remote program coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many roles, since program coordination is largely desk-based and communication-driven. About 8% of program coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the administrative and reporting functions translate to off-site work. Grant management, workforce development, and policy-focused coordinator roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a program coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a program assistant or administrative coordinator role at a Texas nonprofit, community college, or state agency, which directly feeds into coordinator positions. Large Texas employers like the University of Texas System and Texas A and M University run new-graduate administrative programs that build the project management and compliance skills hiring managers look for. A volunteer management background or a certificate in project management gives candidates a measurable edge when formal experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to program coordinator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to program coordinator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
