Event Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a event coordinator in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as an event coordinator, so the path runs through education and credentials. Most Texas employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, communications, or marketing, combined with the Certified Meeting Professional designation offered through the Events Industry Council. Starting in a coordinator assistant or catering assistant role at a hotel, convention center, or corporate venue is the most direct way in.
How much do event coordinators make in Texas?
Event coordinators in Texas earn a median of about $57,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,990 for the lowest 10% to over $95,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire event coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring event coordinators in Texas right now include IDEA Public Schools, Auction, and Life Time, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's deep concentration of corporate headquarters, convention centers, and hospitality groups keeps demand steady across both full-time staff roles and contract positions year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most event coordinator jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most event coordinator openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas generate the bulk of corporate and association event demand given their dense concentrations of Fortune 500 headquarters and large convention facilities, while Austin's fast-growing tech sector and live-events scene drive strong and consistent hiring for coordinators across both corporate and entertainment verticals.
Are there remote event coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 4% of event coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how heavily the role depends on on-site venue management, vendor walkthroughs, and day-of execution. The parts of the role most likely to be handled remotely are budget tracking, vendor communications, and early-stage planning coordination.
How can I get hired as a event coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a hospitality or catering assistant role at one of Texas's major hotel brands or convention centers, where coordinators are trained from the ground up. Large Dallas and Houston convention properties, university event services departments, and nonprofit organizations regularly bring on event assistants with no prior experience. Earning a Certificate in Meeting Management through a Texas community college or pursuing student membership in Meeting Professionals International's Texas chapters builds a competitive edge early.
Where can I find and apply to event coordinator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to event coordinator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Texas employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each position from the listing.
