Hvac Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hvac project manager in Texas?
The most direct path is to hold or work under a Texas HVAC contractor license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, gain field experience as a technician or foreman, then move into project coordination. TDLR oversees journeyman and contractor licensing in Texas, and employers routinely promote licensed tradespeople with strong communication skills into project management roles. A degree in construction management or mechanical engineering accelerates the transition.
How much do hvac project managers make in Texas?
Hvac project managers in Texas earn a median of about $171,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,460 for the lowest 10% to over $277,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hvac project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring hvac project managers in Texas right now include HTS Engineering - Heat Transfer Solutions, Siemens, and Texas AirSystems, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of large healthcare systems, petrochemical facilities, and commercial developers means established mechanical contractors and building-systems integrators maintain ongoing hiring pipelines across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio.
Which Texas cities have the most hvac project manager jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most hvac project manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates because of its dense mix of petrochemical plants, medical center campuses, and high-rise commercial construction, while Dallas-Fort Worth's rapid corporate campus and data center growth sustains consistent demand, and San Antonio's expanding healthcare and military installation base supports a steady secondary market.
Are there remote hvac project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Hvac project management is inherently site-dependent, requiring regular walk-throughs, subcontractor oversight, and equipment inspections. About 20% of hvac project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions typically involve pre-construction estimating, design coordination, or regional oversight roles that do not require daily site presence.
How can I get hired as a hvac project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an assistant project manager or project coordinator role at a Texas mechanical contractor, where you support estimating and scheduling before taking ownership of smaller jobs. Large regional employers like Comfort Systems USA and Trane Technologies Texas operations run associate and trainee programs that bring in candidates with HVAC field backgrounds. Holding a TDLR journeyman technician license and earning a CAPM credential from PMI gives an entry-level candidate a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to hvac project manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to hvac project manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly through each listing.
