Operations Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations project manager in Texas?
Most operations project managers in Texas enter through a bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial engineering, or supply chain management, followed by hands-on project coordination experience. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role. The Project Management Professional credential from PMI is the most widely recognized qualification among Texas employers, particularly in energy, logistics, and manufacturing. Many candidates build experience in coordinator or analyst roles before stepping into a full project manager position.
How much do operations project managers make in Texas?
Operations project managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire operations project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring operations project managers in Texas right now include Amazon, Apple, and Ulta, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, logistics hubs, and large manufacturers means demand is consistent year-round across the Houston Ship Channel corridor, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and the Austin tech corridor.
Which Texas cities have the most operations project manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most operations project manager openings in Texas. Houston's energy and petrochemical industry drives substantial hiring on its own, while Dallas-Fort Worth's logistics, financial services, and corporate headquarters cluster generates high volume across both traditional and tech-adjacent operations roles, and Austin's growth in technology and semiconductor manufacturing has added a fast-expanding share of openings in recent years.
Are there remote operations project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many operations roles because project coordination and reporting work translates well to remote settings. About 12% of operations project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the remainder requiring on-site presence for plant, warehouse, or field oversight. The planning, stakeholder communication, and documentation phases of the role are most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a operations project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a project coordinator or operations analyst at a large Texas employer and building toward a full manager role. Companies like ExxonMobil, Toyota's North American manufacturing operations in San Antonio, and major logistics firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area regularly hire coordinators without prior project manager titles. Earning a CAPM certification from PMI gives candidates a documented edge, and Texas community colleges offer certificate programs in project management that satisfy many coordinator-level postings.
Where can I find and apply to operations project manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to operations project manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and beyond. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
