Operations Project Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations project manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's dominant sectors: energy and petrochemical, port logistics, and hospital systems, where operations project manager roles are most plentiful. Candidates who understand refinery or supply chain environments have a clear edge locally. Target the Energy Corridor and the Texas Medical Center for the highest concentration of openings, and lean into any experience with large-scale facility or infrastructure projects, which Houston employers prize.
Which companies hire operations project managers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring operations project managers in Houston include TAS Energy, City of Houston, TX, and Tesla, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's hiring base is unusually broad, mixing major integrated energy operators, global logistics firms tied to the Port of Houston, and large regional health systems.
Are there remote operations project manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though operations project manager roles are less remote-friendly than purely desk-based positions because many involve coordinating on-site teams, facilities, or physical supply chains. About 0% of operations project manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote options most common in planning, vendor management, and process improvement functions rather than hands-on operational oversight.
How can I get a operations project manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through coordinator or project analyst roles inside energy services companies, logistics firms near the Port of Houston, or large health systems like those in the Texas Medical Center. These employers hire entry-level candidates with strong organizational skills and route them into project support functions. PMP coursework or a Lean Six Sigma certificate strengthens a junior application noticeably in Houston's competitive market.
Which industries hire the most operations project managers in Houston?
Houston operations project manager roles concentrate in Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's status as the global hub for energy production, combined with one of the busiest ports in the country and a large hospital network, means demand in these sectors is structural rather than cyclical.
