Facilities Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a facilities project manager in Texas?
Most facilities project managers in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or business, then build field experience before moving into project oversight. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for facilities project managers, but the Project Management Professional credential issued by the Project Management Institute is widely expected by Texas employers, particularly in healthcare, higher education, and corporate real estate. Candidates who pair that credential with experience on capital or renovation projects advance fastest.
How much do facilities project managers make in Texas?
Facilities project managers in Texas earn a median of about $99,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,960 for the lowest 10% to over $173,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire facilities project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring facilities project managers in Texas right now include Cushman & Wakefield, Oracle, and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's scale of commercial development, major medical center campuses, and corporate headquarters concentrations means demand is consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Texas cities have the most facilities project manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most facilities project manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its medical center, energy sector campuses, and ongoing commercial construction, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from its dense corporate headquarters base and large-scale mixed-use development, and Austin's growth in tech campuses and public infrastructure has made it an increasingly active market.
Are there remote facilities project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Facilities project management is an inherently on-site role, requiring physical presence during inspections, contractor coordination, and construction milestones. About 3% of facilities project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve the planning, budgeting, or reporting phases of large programs rather than day-to-day site supervision.
How can I get hired as a facilities project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a facilities coordinator or project coordinator role at a large Texas institution or property management firm, where you support senior project managers on active jobs and build hands-on site experience. Large Texas health systems such as UT Southwestern and Memorial Hermann, along with commercial real estate operators like CBRE and Cushman and Wakefield, regularly hire at the coordinator level for candidates with relevant degrees. Earning an associate-level Project Management Professional credential and assembling a portfolio of any renovation or construction work you have overseen, even informally, gives your application a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to facilities project manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to facilities project manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and other markets. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
