Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring an In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families across Houston, Katy, Richmond, Houston Heights, Pearland, Sugar Land, Pasadena - Texas.
No waiting room. No double-booked columns. No corporate production dashboard. Just you, a family who loves their pet, and the time to do it right.
We are a Privately Held, Family-Owned and Doctor Led Veterinary Practice - and we DO NOT USE NON-COMPETE CONTRACTS. Not a shortened one. Not a "reasonable radius" one. NONE! Unlike the national and private-equity-backed end-of-life networks, your career here is never held hostage by a contract clause. You are free to build your professional life on your own terms, and we would like to earn the right to be part of it.
The veterinarians who love this work tend to be the ones who were always best at the hard conversations. If you've ever finished a euthanasia appointment and thought "that was the most meaningful thing I did all week , I wish I'd had another twenty minutes," you already understand the job.
Experienced doctors looking to step away from the pace of general or emergency practice, without stepping away from medicine, are exactly who we built this for. Doctors returning from a break, or building a schedule around family, are genuinely welcome.

Veterinarian Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a veterinarian job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's high-density hiring pockets: the Texas Medical Center corridor, the suburban clinic corridors in Katy and Sugar Land, and the specialty and emergency hospitals scattered across the Galleria and Energy Corridor neighborhoods. Practices here lean toward small animal and exotic species work, so experience with those populations stands out. Candidates who can demonstrate emergency triage experience or bilingual communication skills gain a meaningful edge in Houston's diverse patient base.
Which companies hire veterinarians in Houston?
Employers hiring veterinarians in Houston right now include Lakefield Veterinary, Heartstrings Pet Hospice, In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare, and Petco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's hiring mix runs from corporate-owned multi-site practices and emergency referral centers to university-affiliated research programs and USDA-connected livestock operations serving the broader Gulf Coast region.
Are there remote veterinarian jobs in Houston?
Yes, though options are limited given how hands-on most veterinary work is. About 0% of veterinarian openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the small share of roles in telehealth triage, veterinary consulting, and regulatory or research review that can be done off-site. On-site clinical and surgical positions make up the large majority of local openings.
How can I get a veterinarian job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through corporate general-practice groups and emergency hospitals that run structured new-graduate programs, where mentorship and caseload volume help new vets build clinical confidence quickly. Veterinary assistant or relief vet roles at the large multi-location practices operating across the Houston suburbs also serve as a practical bridge. Completing an externship with a Houston-area shelter, zoo, or livestock operation adds local credibility that independent practices value.
Which industries hire the most veterinarians in Houston?
Houston veterinarian roles concentrate in Animal Care & Pet Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's role as a major port city, livestock trade hub, and home to one of the country's largest medical research complexes drives demand across companion animal care, agricultural inspection, and biomedical research settings.
