Pediatric Physician Assistant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pediatric physician assistant in Texas?
To practice as a pediatric physician assistant in Texas, you must hold a license issued by the Texas Medical Board, which requires graduation from an ARC-PA accredited PA program, NCCPA certification via the PANCE exam, and a supervising physician agreement. After licensure, pediatric-focused positions typically require or strongly prefer clinical rotations or post-graduate experience in a pediatric setting, and many large Texas children's systems offer post-graduate pediatric residency programs that bridge that gap.
How much do pediatric physician assistants make in Texas?
Pediatric physician assistants in Texas earn a median of about $134,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $102,650 for the lowest 10% to over $169,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire pediatric physician assistants in Texas?
Employers hiring pediatric physician assistants in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital, and Pediatrix Medical, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large, freestanding children's hospital systems and pediatric multispecialty group practices makes it one of the more consistent states for dedicated pediatric PA openings.
Which Texas cities have the most pediatric physician assistant jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Austin have the most pediatric physician assistant openings in Texas. Houston leads because it anchors one of the largest children's hospital campuses in the country, Dallas follows with a dense network of pediatric specialty practices tied to Children's Health and UT Southwestern, and San Antonio's military-affiliated and academic medical infrastructure drives steady demand across both inpatient and outpatient pediatric settings.
Are there remote pediatric physician assistant jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Pediatric physician assistant work is fundamentally hands-on and patient-facing, so fully remote positions make up a small fraction of total openings. About 0% of pediatric physician assistant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles are almost exclusively in pediatric telehealth triage or care coordination rather than direct clinical care.
How can I get hired as a pediatric physician assistant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a post-graduate pediatric PA residency program, and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and Children's Health in Dallas both run structured programs designed for new graduates. Candidates without a residency slot often start in pediatric urgent care or general pediatrics before moving into subspecialties. Completing pediatric rotations during PA school, holding current PALS certification, and having Epic experience all meaningfully strengthen a new-grad application at Texas children's systems.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric physician assistant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to pediatric physician assistant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across children's hospital systems, pediatric clinics, and specialty practices. Search the listings, find roles that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
