Entry Level Veterinary Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level veterinary technician job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for candidates who have completed an accredited veterinary technology program, hold or are pursuing Veterinary Technician National Examination certification, and have hands-on experience from externships or clinical rotations. A strong letter of recommendation from a supervising veterinarian, a clear record of patient-handling skills, and willingness to work weekends or overnight shifts give candidates a real edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level veterinary technicians?
Companies hiring entry level veterinary technicians right now include Ethos Veterinary Health, Vetcor, and NVA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a mix of general practice clinics, specialty and emergency animal hospitals, and large veterinary corporate groups that run structured onboarding programs for new professionals.
Are there remote entry level veterinary technician jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this field are hands-on and on-site. About 0% of entry level veterinary technician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work typically limited to roles in veterinary telehealth, client education, or veterinary insurance review rather than direct patient care positions.
Are these new grad veterinary technician jobs?
Yes. These listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior veterinary technician roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts externships or clinical rotations toward the requirement, or states that candidates working toward their VTNE certification are encouraged to apply. A portfolio of clinical skills developed during school carries real weight at this stage.
Which industries hire the most entry level veterinary technicians?
Entry Level veterinary technician roles concentrate in Animal Care & Pet Services, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they have consistent patient volume, benefit from credentialed support staff, and often run mentorship or residency-style programs designed to bring new graduates up to speed quickly.
