Entry Level Veterinary Surgery Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level veterinary surgery technician job?
Entry level veterinary surgery technician roles typically look for candidates with formal veterinary technology training, hands-on clinical or internship experience, and familiarity with surgical preparation and instrument care. Completing an accredited veterinary technician program, earning a Veterinary Technician National Examination credential, and highlighting any externship or shadowing hours gives new candidates a clear edge when applying.
Which companies hire entry level veterinary surgery technicians?
Companies hiring entry level veterinary surgery technicians right now include Ethos Veterinary Health, VCA Animal Hospitals, and NVA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this experience level, hiring tends to come from specialty and emergency animal hospitals, large veterinary group practices, and academic veterinary medical centers that have structured onboarding for new graduates.
Are there remote entry level veterinary surgery technician jobs?
Yes, though remote work is limited in this hands-on clinical field. About 0% of entry level veterinary surgery technician openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles tend to be in telehealth triage support, veterinary client education, or surgical scheduling rather than direct patient care positions.
Are these new grad veterinary surgery technician jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates, candidates with zero to two years of experience, or applicants whose background includes externships and internships rather than full-time employment. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it lists an accredited program credential as the primary requirement rather than years of prior professional experience.
Which industries hire the most entry level veterinary surgery technicians?
Entry Level veterinary surgery technician roles concentrate in Animal Care & Pet Services, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they operate high patient volumes and surgical caseloads that require trained support staff, creating consistent demand for new graduates ready to work in structured clinical environments.
