Your technical skill, curiosity, and execution will directly contribute to the performance, reliability, and quality of products used every day in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop high-quality embedded electronic circuits and subsystems for Axon’s video products, wired and wireless devices, and low-power accessories.
- Own detailed design and implementation of mixed-signal hardware blocks in collaboration with senior electrical engineers and cross-functional partners.
- Contribute to subsystem architecture and hardware design decisions, helping translate system requirements into practical circuit implementations.
- Create embedded mixed-signal schematics in OrCAD, integrating components such as application processors, memory, high-speed digital interfaces, RF transceivers, power supplies, battery charging systems, audio, and sensors.
- Work closely with PCB design engineers to define requirements, review layouts, and improve implementation quality for dense, high-performance embedded boards.
- Personally bring up, characterize, debug, and validate circuits and systems using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, and custom test setups.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions to improve performance, robustness, and reliability.
- Improve designs through simulation, bench measurement, and iterative development to meet product, system, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain BOMs, design documentation, test plans, and release materials needed to support development and manufacturing.
- Support design verification, manufacturing bring-up, and issue resolution through prototype, validation, and production phase.
- Contribute to design reviews, technical problem solving, and knowledge sharing across the team.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of industry experience designing embedded electronics, with solid depth in high-speed, high-density, portable, battery-powered products.
- Demonstrated experience owning and delivering hardware circuits or subsystems within complex embedded products.
- Hands-on experience with embedded mixed-signal hardware design involving several of the following areas: application processors or microcontrollers, image sensors, memory subsystems, power delivery, battery charging, audio, sensors, wired interfaces, and wireless integration.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in board bring-up, characterization, troubleshooting, and debug using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, and custom jigs.
- Experience designing schematics, selecting components, developing BOMs, and supporting hardware integration using industry-standard tools; experience with Cadence/OrCAD is preferred.
- Experience working with PCB design engineers to support layout definition, review implementation quality, and help drive successful multilayer HDI rigid, flex, or rigid-flex board designs.
- Good understanding of power system design, including point-of-load regulators, PMIC integration, power trees, power measurement, and battery-powered design considerations.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces and dense embedded hardware design, including awareness of layout, signal integrity, and implementation considerations.
- Experience supporting product development through prototype build, validation, manufacturing bring-up, and issue resolution.
- Familiarity with designing electronics to meet regulatory requirements such as FCC, CE, IEC, or similar standards.
- Independent contributor who works effectively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver results in a fast-paced product development environment.
- Strong documentation, analysis, communication, and collaboration skills.

Which aerospace and defense companies in Arizona sponsor TN visas?
Raytheon Technologies in Tucson is one of Arizona's largest defense employers and has a documented history of sponsoring TN visas for engineers and technical specialists. Boeing maintains significant operations in the Phoenix area, as does Honeywell Aerospace, headquartered in Phoenix. General Dynamics, L3Harris, and Northrop Grumman also operate facilities in Arizona and have sponsored TN workers in qualifying occupations.
Which Arizona cities have the most aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs?
Tucson concentrates the heaviest defense activity, anchored by Raytheon's large campus and proximity to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The Greater Phoenix metro, including Mesa, Chandler, and Tempe, hosts Honeywell Aerospace's headquarters and several Boeing facilities. Mesa and Gilbert have growing MRO and avionics operations. Flagstaff has a smaller but active defense supplier base connected to precision manufacturing.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Arizona?
TN visa eligibility in aerospace and defense requires the role to match a listed NAFTA/USMCA occupation category. Engineers in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and systems disciplines qualify directly. Computer systems analysts, industrial engineers, and scientific roles in physics or chemistry also fit. Management positions, general technician roles, and production supervisors typically do not qualify unless the specific duties align with a listed TN occupation.
How do I find aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN-eligible candidates and filters Arizona aerospace and defense roles by verified sponsorship history, so you're not applying to employers who have never filed for TN workers. Search by occupation category to surface positions that match qualifying TN roles such as aerospace engineer or systems analyst. Migrate Mate also shows DOL Labor Condition Application filing data by employer, giving you a clearer picture of which Arizona defense contractors actively sponsor.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Arizona's defense employers frequently work on export-controlled programs under ITAR and EAR regulations, which can restrict open positions to U.S. persons only. Before applying, confirm whether a posting specifies U.S. person requirements, as TN visa holders do not qualify as U.S. persons under export control law. Roles on unclassified commercial programs at the same companies are generally open to TN candidates. Tucson-area positions tied to missile systems work carry higher rates of this restriction than avionics or commercial aerospace roles in Phoenix.
