Your Impact
Axon is scaling its global manufacturing operations, and the finance team behind that growth needs sharp, detail-oriented analysts to keep it running with precision. As a Cost Accountant at Axon, you'll sit at the intersection of finance and operations, owning month-end close activities, driving inventory and variance analysis, and partnering directly with FP&A, Supply Chain Controllership, and Operations leaders. This is a newly created, high-visibility role where your work directly shapes how Axon understands and manages the cost of bringing life-saving technology to market.
Location: Hybrid, 4 days per week in Boston, MA
Reports to: Director, Supply Chain Controllership
Direct Reports: N/A
- Own month-end close for cost accounting — prepare and post journal entries including accruals, reserves, reclassifications, and allocations across multiple business segments and legal entities. Support close activities spanning inventory reserves, PPV accruals and amortization, royalties, scrap reclassifications, and overhead and segment allocations.
- Lead inventory reserve management — review and maintain excess and obsolescence reserves, produce reserve summary reports, and support inventory reconciliation activities including segment, sub-assembly, and raw material to WIP movements.
- Drive cost variance analysis — monitor and analyze purchase price, production, and quantity variances; identify root causes; and communicate findings clearly to business partners and leadership.
- Support standard cost processes — assist with standard cost uploads in the ERP system, including monthly bill-of-materials (BOM) reviews, new SKU setups, and ongoing variance monitoring.
- Prepare management reporting packages — collect and analyze cost data to support business decision-making; prepare periodic cost variance reports comparing standard to actual costs across global manufacturing operations.
- Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness — perform account reconciliations, document cost accounting processes and journal entries in adherence to internal controls, and support SOX testing, GAAP audits, and annual physical inventory count activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally — partner with FP&A, Global Supply Chain Controllership, and Operations to explain budget-to-actual variances and serve as a trusted resource on cost accounting treatment, inventory transactions, and ERP-related questions.
- Contribute to process improvement — as this team scales, proactively identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reporting accuracy, and build scalable cost accounting infrastructure.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required — CPA or CMA in progress or completed is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or supply chain finance — or equivalent relevant experience in a high-growth or operationally complex environment.
- Solid GAAP foundation — hands-on experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial close processes; familiarity with SOX compliance and audit support.
- ERP proficiency — experience working in a major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) for journal entries, BOM reviews, standard cost uploads, and inventory transactions.
- Analytical and detail-oriented — comfortable working with large datasets, building reconciliations, and communicating complex cost drivers to non-finance stakeholders with clarity.
- Advanced Excel skills — proficiency with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and financial modeling; experience with AI analytics tools is highly valued.
- Collaborative and curious — you bring a growth mindset, ask the right questions, and thrive in cross-functional environments where the work is always evolving. Aligns with Axon's values of being mission-driven, transparent, and operating with integrity.

Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor TN visas in Massachusetts?
Raytheon Technologies, BAE Systems, L3Harris, General Dynamics Mission Systems, and Draper Laboratory are among the Massachusetts employers with documented histories of sponsoring TN visas for engineering and scientific roles. Many of these companies operate cleared facilities and regularly hire Canadian and Mexican nationals into roles that qualify under TN specialty occupation categories such as engineer and computer systems analyst.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts sits along the Route 128 corridor, with Tewksbury, Burlington, Woburn, and Lexington hosting major defense contractors. Greater Boston also offers opportunities, particularly in systems integration and defense research. Marlborough and Chelmsford have growing clusters tied to defense electronics and radar systems development.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
Roles that most commonly qualify for TN sponsorship in Massachusetts aerospace and defense include mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, aerospace engineers, systems engineers, software engineers, and computer systems analysts. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, and the job duties must align with the TN occupation category listed in the USMCA agreement. Program managers and technical project leads may qualify if the role is engineering-focused and degree requirements are specific.
How do I find aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa holders and lists aerospace and defense roles in Massachusetts where employers are open to TN sponsorship. Filtering by visa type and industry on Migrate Mate surfaces relevant openings at defense contractors along the Route 128 corridor without requiring you to screen dozens of general job listings for sponsorship eligibility. Creating a profile also helps match your engineering or scientific background to roles where Canadian and Mexican nationals are regularly hired.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in Massachusetts aerospace and defense?
Many Massachusetts aerospace and defense employers work on U.S. government contracts requiring security clearances, which are only available to U.S. citizens. This means some positions are effectively off-limits to TN visa holders regardless of qualifications. Roles in commercial aerospace, unclassified research, and non-ITAR-restricted programs are more accessible. It is worth confirming clearance requirements before applying, as they are set by contract rather than employer preference.
