What You’ll Do
As a senior telecom engineering professional, you’ll take a leadership role in producing complex telecommunications system design packages for advanced facilities. You will
- Serve as the telecom discipline lead, guiding supporting design staff and coordinating with architects and engineers across all disciplines.
- Work directly with client counterparts to translate their operational needs into high-performing, reliable telecom infrastructure.
- Lead the development of fully coordinated 3D BIM models, construction specs, and 2D deliverables.
- Design a full spectrum of telecom systems, including Outside Plant (OSP); inter- and intra-building backbone distribution systems; communication room layouts & rack elevations; wired and wireless device plans; cable routing and schedules.
- Ensure all work aligns with NEC, applicable TIA standards, and client/Jacobs specifications.

Here’s what you'll need
- Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction industry
- BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) or RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential
- Deep knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) as applicable to telecommunications design requirements
- Deep knowledge and application of telecommunications industry association (TIA) standards
- Experience editing design and construction specifications
- Experience with start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems
- Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for multi-building projects with multiple phases
- Experience in providing quality assurance (QA) and checking telecommunications systems designed by others
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Navisworks
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- At least 5 years of design experience in semiconductor, data center or other high-tech facilities
- Experience leading small telecommunications design teams
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
- Knowledge and design experience with wireless local area network (WLAN), paging, intercom
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems
