Which companies sponsor visas for C.N.A.s in California?
Large hospital systems and long-term care operators are the most active sponsors. Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, Sutter Health, and Kindred Healthcare have California facilities with histories of international hiring. Smaller skilled nursing facilities and regional hospital networks also sponsor, particularly in areas with persistent CNA shortages like the Inland Empire and Central Valley. Sponsorship is more common at facilities with dedicated HR teams capable of managing the petition process.
Which visa types are most common for C.N.A. roles in California?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for CNAs, as the role is classified as unskilled or semi-skilled work under PERM labor certification. Some facilities also hire through the H-2B visa temporary nonimmigrant visa for seasonal or short-term needs. The H-1B visa is generally not applicable to CNA positions because the role does not require a bachelor's degree in a specific specialty field as defined by USCIS.
Which cities in California have the most C.N.A. sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles County has the highest concentration of CNA positions overall, given its population size and density of hospitals and nursing facilities. San Diego, Sacramento, and the San Francisco Bay Area also show consistent demand. The Central Valley, including Fresno and Bakersfield, has notable shortages that push facilities toward international recruitment. These inland markets can be worth targeting, as competition for sponsored roles tends to be lower than in coastal metro areas.
How to find c.n.a. visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, so you can search CNA positions in California without sorting through employers who don't hire internationally. The platform is built for international job seekers, meaning listings are screened for sponsorship intent. Filtering by California and the CNA role will surface facilities and health systems actively open to candidates who need work authorization support.
Are there state-specific considerations for C.N.A. visa sponsorship in California?
California requires CNAs to hold an active certification on the California Nurse Aide Registry, which means internationally hired candidates must pass the state competency exam before working independently. California's prevailing wage requirements under PERM labor certification are typically higher than the national average, reflecting the state's cost of living. Employers must demonstrate they could not find qualified local candidates before sponsoring, a process that can extend timelines significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored c.n.a. jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
