Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in California?
California-based logistics and transportation employers that have historically engaged CPT students include UPS, FedEx, Amazon Logistics, XPO Logistics, and port-adjacent freight companies operating through the Port of Long Beach and Port of Oakland. Airlines with hub operations at LAX and SFO, along with regional transit agencies like LA Metro, have also offered CPT-eligible internship programs aligned with supply chain and operations degree requirements.
Which cities in California have the most transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles and the surrounding Inland Empire corridor concentrate the highest volume of transportation CPT opportunities, driven by port activity, freight forwarding, and last-mile delivery networks. The Bay Area offers roles in logistics technology and supply chain analytics, particularly with tech-adjacent transportation firms. San Diego provides opportunities in cross-border freight and trade logistics given its proximity to the Tijuana-San Diego corridor, one of the busiest land border crossings in the world.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that directly connect to a student's degree field are most commonly authorized for CPT. Supply chain analyst internships, logistics operations coordinator positions, transportation planning roles, and freight data analysis functions are frequently approved because they align with engineering, business, and operations management programs. Hands-on roles without a clear academic connection, such as general warehouse labor, are less likely to satisfy the curricular requirement DSOs look for when authorizing CPT.
How do I find transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters transportation jobs in California by visa type, including F-1 CPT, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support your work authorization. The platform surfaces employers who have a history of sponsoring CPT students in logistics, supply chain, and mobility roles across California's major markets. Searching by location and visa category on Migrate Mate significantly reduces the time spent screening irrelevant postings.
Are there California-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in transportation?
California's AB5 gig work classification law affects how transportation companies structure internships and employment relationships, which can influence the type of CPT positions available. Students should confirm with their DSO that any offered role qualifies as employment rather than independent contracting, since CPT authorization requires a formal employer-employee relationship. Additionally, California's strong environmental regulations have accelerated electric vehicle logistics hiring, opening newer CPT pathways at companies focused on sustainable freight and last-mile delivery.
