DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a creative and execution-oriented Principal Product Manager to lead the integration of Electric Autonomous Vehicles (EAVs) within our Middle Mile transportation network. This role sits at the intersection of electrification, autonomous driving technology, and large-scale logistics operations — shaping the future of the safest, most sustainable, and technologically advanced fleet in the world.
You will own the end-to-end technical integration of electric autonomous trucking solutions, partnering with OEMs, autonomous technology providers, safety organizations, and internal stakeholders to deliver transformative outcomes at scale.
Key job responsibilities
-
Vendor Technical Diligence: Lead structured technical assessments of new autonomous driving (AD) stack and vehicle/robot platform vendors - both external partners and internal tech teams - evaluating systems architecture, functional safety maturity, and operational readiness against standardized Amazon requirements.
-
Technical Requirements & Specifications: Collaborate with product managers across all autonomy verticals (in-yard autonomous driving, in-yard non-driving automation, on-road autonomous driving, and Electric Autonomous Vehicle (EAV)) to define hardware and software performance requirements, applying standards specified by Global Road Safety (GRS).
-
Technical & Safety Validation: Validate that vendors and internal tech partners continuously meet defined requirements and specifications throughout development and operations; establish performance benchmarks and validation frameworks for each product lifecycle stage.
-
Cross-Vertical Integration: Serve as the horizontal technical integration layer across all product verticals, ensuring consistent standards for safety case review, systems integration, and compliance across in-yard and on-road programs.
-
Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with product managers, engineering, safety, and legal teams to translate technical and safety requirements into actionable integration plans; communicate findings to senior leadership with clarity and technical rigor.

Which companies sponsor visas for principals in California?
Large technology employers account for the majority of principal-level visa sponsorships in California. Companies such as Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon, Salesforce, Adobe, and Intuit have consistent H-1B filing histories for senior individual contributor and principal roles. Semiconductor and biotech firms concentrated in Silicon Valley and San Diego, including Qualcomm and Illumina, also sponsor at this level with regularity.
Which visa types are most common for principal roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for principal roles in California, as these positions typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific specialty field. Candidates with extraordinary ability in their domain may also qualify for the O-1A. Senior professionals transferring within a multinational organization may be eligible for the L-1A or L-1B, depending on whether the role is managerial or involves specialized knowledge.
Which cities in California have the most principal sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View, concentrates the highest volume of principal-level visa sponsorship activity in California, driven by its technology sector density. Los Angeles follows, with sponsorship activity spread across entertainment technology, fintech, and aerospace. San Diego is a notable hub for principal roles in biotech, defense technology, and semiconductor companies.
How to find principal visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship employment in the United States. You can filter directly for principal roles in California to see verified sponsorship-eligible openings from employers with active H-1B or other visa filing histories. Migrate Mate surfaces jobs from companies that have demonstrated willingness to sponsor, helping you focus your search on realistic opportunities rather than sifting through postings that don't support international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for principal visa sponsorship roles in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules apply to H-1B petitions, and principal-level roles in high-cost metros like San Francisco and San Jose typically fall into the upper wage tiers. California also enforces strict employee classification laws, which can affect how sponsoring employers structure employment agreements. Candidates should be aware that employer legal and HR teams in California are generally experienced with sponsorship processes given the state's high volume of international hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
