Which companies sponsor visas for automation engineers in Colorado?
Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have significant engineering operations in the Denver metro and Colorado Springs areas and have filed H-1B visa petitions for automation and systems engineers. Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Arrow Electronics in Centennial, and various semiconductor and medical device manufacturers along the Front Range also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as H-1B sponsors for engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for automation engineers in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for automation engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering. Candidates with extraordinary ability in automation or robotics may pursue the O-1A. Canadians and Mexicans with relevant engineering credentials may also be eligible for TN visa status under the engineer category.
Which cities in Colorado have the most automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its surrounding metro, including Aurora, Centennial, and Englewood, account for the largest share of automation engineer openings given the concentration of aerospace, defense, and technology employers. Boulder is a secondary hub, particularly for robotics and semiconductor-adjacent work. Colorado Springs supports defense-sector automation roles tied to military installations and contracted engineering firms in the area.
How to find automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, so you can search automation engineer positions in Colorado without manually screening each listing. The platform is built for international candidates, making it straightforward to identify Front Range employers, aerospace contractors, and advanced manufacturing companies in Colorado that have a track record of sponsoring engineering visas.
Are there any Colorado-specific factors automation engineers should know before applying for sponsored roles?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to include compensation ranges in job postings, which gives automation engineer candidates useful context when evaluating offers before applying. The state's concentration of federal contractors, particularly in aerospace and defense, means some roles carry security clearance requirements that can complicate or limit sponsorship eligibility. Graduates from CU Boulder and Colorado State University's engineering programs are well-represented in the regional hiring pipeline, so international candidates from similar programs often align well with local employer expectations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automation engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
