Which technology companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Colorado?
Several large and mid-size technology employers in Colorado have filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM-eligible roles. Companies with significant engineering presences in the state include Google, Amazon Web Services, Oracle, Palantir Technologies, and Lockheed Martin's software divisions. Colorado's aerospace and defense software sector also includes employers such as Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, though security clearance requirements can affect eligibility for international candidates.
Which cities in Colorado have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Denver has the highest concentration of technology sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its cloud, fintech, and enterprise software sectors. Boulder follows closely, with a dense cluster of startups and research-adjacent companies near the University of Colorado. Colorado Springs has a growing cybersecurity and defense-technology presence. Fort Collins and the Denver Tech Center corridor also host employers that have sponsored STEM OPT candidates in software and data engineering roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship must be directly related to the student's STEM-designated degree field. In technology, this commonly includes software engineering, data science, machine learning engineering, DevOps, cybersecurity analysis, cloud architecture, and systems engineering. The position must require the practical application of STEM knowledge, and the employer must be enrolled in E-Verify. Roles classified as purely sales, project management, or general business support typically do not qualify.
How do I find technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters technology job listings in Colorado specifically for employers with F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, using DOL Labor Condition Application filing data to surface companies that have actively sponsored STEM-eligible candidates. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings. You can search by role type, city, and employer size to narrow results to positions that match your degree field and OPT extension timeline.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Colorado's technology sector?
Colorado does not impose additional state-level requirements on top of federal STEM OPT rules, but a few practical factors are worth knowing. Many Colorado technology employers in aerospace and defense require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency for security-cleared roles, which excludes F-1 candidates regardless of STEM OPT eligibility. Colorado's competitive engineering hiring market also means STEM OPT candidates benefit from applying early in the OPT authorization window to allow sufficient time for employer E-Verify enrollment if required.
