Product Onboarding Specialist
Onsite | Portland Metro Area, OR
Hourly, Non-Exempt | $17-23/hr
Fulfil is redefining the grocery supply chain through advanced robotics and automation. Backed by world-class investors and led by a seasoned team, we are hiring a Product Onboarding Specialist to capture & interpret product level details for our automated high speed grocery fulfillment system. In this role, you’ll serve as the bridge between the merchandising, engineering and operations teams — ensuring safe, reliable, high-performance system operation.
Unique opportunity: Pre-launch, take part in site deployment, from bring-up and commissioning, through partner handover and site acceptance testing, into full production.
Room for Advancement: We’re building a team and expanding fast! This role has the potential for an outstanding candidate to be promoted into a Factory Operator or Assistant Site Lead role within the Fulfil Organization.
Your Responsibilities
As an Operations Onboarding Associate, you will play a key role in preparing retail products for use in Fulfil’s automated facility. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role focused on accurately measuring, documenting, testing, and validating products so they can be reliably handled by our automation system.
You will be responsible for item-level product setup, including capturing product data, evaluating how products fit within their assigned storage environments and identifying any issues that could impact automation performance. Your work will directly support the successful deployment and operation of a new automated facility.
You will collaborate closely with Operators, Engineers, and cross-functional teams based in Silicon Valley to ensure products are onboarded accurately, processes are clearly documented, and operational launch timelines stay on track.
This role is ideal for someone with retail, grocery, warehouse, inventory, quality control, or operations experience who is highly accurate, comfortable with repetitive detail-oriented work, and excited to grow into a future Operator role.
What You’ll Do
Product Measurement & Data Capture:
- Accurately measure retail products using approved tools and procedures.
- Capture item-level data such as dimensions, weight, orientation, packaging type, and other required attributes.
- Enter product information into internal systems with a high degree of accuracy.
- Review work for completeness, consistency, and potential errors.
Product Testing:
- Evaluate how products fit within storage environments used by the automation system.
- Test product placement, orientation, stability, and handling readiness.
- Identify products that may be too large, unstable, fragile, irregularly shaped, or otherwise unsuitable for automated handling.
- Document pass/fail results, exceptions, and special handling requirements.
Inventory Management & Product Control
- Organize and track products throughout the onboarding process.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for products being tested, staged, or completed.
- Support receiving, stocking, movement, and control of product samples.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and ready for accurate measurement and testing.
Quality, Accuracy & Process Compliance
- Follow SOPs, checklists, and standardized onboarding procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and repeatability.
- Escalate unclear or questionable product fits instead of guessing.
- Help identify process gaps, documentation issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operators, Engineers, and site leadership to resolve onboarding questions.
- Communicate product issues, fit concerns, and data discrepancies clearly.
- Support on-time operational deployment by completing onboarding tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Share observations that may improve product onboarding, tray fit standards, or automation performance.
Growth Toward Operations
- Build a strong understanding of Fulfil’s automation system, product handling requirements, and operational workflows.
- Demonstrate reliability, ownership, and process discipline.
- Develop the skills needed to grow into a future Operator role supporting live automation system performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in retail operations, grocery or similar environments.
- Safety first mentality, adhering to OSHA guidelines while prioritizing a safe work environment.
- Clear communicator with ability to explain complex system behavior simply.
- Calm, detail-oriented decision-maker who performs consistently over time and well under pressure.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets, dashboards, logs, and diagnostic tools; experience with metric reporting.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to operate with a high degree of ownership.
- Flexible schedule - preference for candidates with open availability.
Bonus Experience (Not Required)
- Exposure to warehouse automation, robotics platforms, industrial systems or data capture.
- Familiarity with item measurement and interpretation of data (calipers, scales).
- Experience supporting deployments, pilots, deadlines and prioritization.
- Experience with tools like Slack, Jira, Excel, or digital workflow platforms.
What You’ll Get
- Early-stage exposure to a fast-growing robotics company.
- Compensation + equity in a mission-driven organization.
- Full medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
- The compensation range for this position is $17-23/hr plus stock and benefits. Pay within the range is based on candidate experience, job-specific skills, education, and work location.
- A supportive, high-ownership operational culture.
- Opportunities to work closely with engineering & operations to help shape a live automation system.

Which technology companies in Oregon sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Intel is one of Oregon's largest technology employers and has a documented history of filing STEM OPT extensions, particularly for engineering and semiconductor roles at its Hillsboro campuses. Other active sponsors include Daimler Trucks North America, Planar Systems, and a range of Portland-based software firms. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application filings under the OFLC is the most reliable way to verify an employer's sponsorship history before applying.
Which cities in Oregon have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the largest share of technology F-1 STEM OPT positions in Oregon, supported by a dense concentration of software companies, digital agencies, and corporate technology divisions. Hillsboro, located in the Silicon Forest corridor, is significant for semiconductor and hardware engineering roles, primarily driven by Intel's large campus there. Beaverton and Eugene also have technology employers, though at lower volume than the Portland metro area.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Oregon?
Roles that qualify must be in a STEM-designated field and directly related to the student's degree program. In Oregon's technology sector, qualifying positions commonly include software engineer, data analyst, systems engineer, computer hardware engineer, and cybersecurity analyst. The position must also be paid and supervised. Students should confirm their specific degree's CIP code is on the STEM Designated Degree Program List maintained by USCIS before accepting an offer.
How do I find technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students seeking F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship and lets you filter technology roles in Oregon by employer filing history, so you can focus on companies that have actually sponsored STEM OPT extensions rather than those that only claim willingness. This is particularly useful in Oregon's technology market, where Intel, Daimler Trucks, and Portland-area software firms appear consistently in DOL disclosure data as active STEM OPT sponsors.
Are there any Oregon-specific or technology industry considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Oregon does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal rules, but the state's technology sector has some structural factors worth knowing. Oregon's semiconductor industry, anchored by Intel in Hillsboro, operates on project-based hiring cycles that can affect the timing of STEM OPT extension filings. Portland-area startups may have less experience with STEM OPT paperwork than larger employers, so confirming an employer's E-Verify enrollment and prior filing history before accepting an offer is particularly important in that segment of the market.
