Which technology companies in Utah sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Several established and high-growth technology employers in Utah have filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM-related roles, including Adobe, Qualtrics, Domo, Pluralsight, and Ancestry. Larger enterprise software and SaaS companies in the Silicon Slopes area tend to have dedicated HR and immigration processes, making them more consistently active sponsors compared to early-stage startups with limited administrative infrastructure.
Which cities in Utah have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and the surrounding Silicon Slopes corridor, spanning Lehi, Draper, Provo, and Sandy, account for the large majority of technology STEM OPT sponsorship activity in Utah. Lehi in particular hosts regional headquarters for several major tech companies. Provo benefits from proximity to Brigham Young University, generating additional demand for software and data roles from nearby employers.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Utah?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code and involve work directly related to the graduate's degree field. In Utah's technology sector, this commonly includes software engineering, data engineering, machine learning, cybersecurity analysis, cloud infrastructure, and UX research positions. Job titles must reflect substantive technical work rather than general business or coordination functions to satisfy USCIS requirements.
How do I find technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters technology job listings specifically by visa type and state, making it straightforward to identify Utah employers with active F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history in software, data, and engineering roles. You can also cross-reference employer sponsorship activity through the OFLC Wage Search to review Labor Condition Application filings by company and occupation before applying.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in technology?
Utah does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal USCIS rules, but the Silicon Slopes tech ecosystem skews heavily toward SaaS and enterprise software, which means most open STEM OPT roles require applied computer science or information systems credentials. Employers in Utah are also required to enroll in E-Verify as a condition of STEM OPT sponsorship, and Utah state law separately mandates E-Verify participation for certain public contractors, which reinforces familiarity with the process among larger employers.
