Which companies sponsor visas for software quality engineers in Colorado?
Several large employers in Colorado have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for software quality engineers. These include Lockheed Martin and Raytheon in Colorado Springs, Trimble and Oracle near Denver, and Arrow Electronics in the Denver Tech Center. Boulder-based companies such as Zayo and Sphero have also filed sponsorship petitions. Sponsorship patterns vary by hiring cycle and role, so checking recent LCA filings on the Department of Labor's disclosure database gives the most current picture.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for software quality engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension frequently transition to H-1B visa through employer sponsorship. The L-1B is another pathway for engineers transferring intracompany from a foreign office of a Colorado-based employer.
Which cities in Colorado have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver and Boulder account for the largest share of software quality engineer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by the concentration of enterprise tech companies, defense contractors, and venture-backed startups. Colorado Springs is a secondary hub, particularly for defense and aerospace QA roles at companies like Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. Fort Collins, home to Broadcom and HP operations, also generates a smaller but consistent volume of sponsorship positions for quality-focused engineers.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to find software quality engineer roles in Colorado without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and job function to surface active openings at Colorado employers who have filed recent Labor Condition Applications. This is more targeted than general job searching, particularly for candidates on OPT or needing H-1B sponsorship within a defined timeline.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for software quality engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which gives visa-seeking candidates better visibility into whether a role meets prevailing wage requirements before applying. The state's strong university pipeline from CU Boulder and Colorado State University means competition for QA roles can be high. Defense and aerospace positions in Colorado Springs may also require security clearance eligibility, which can complicate or limit sponsorship pathways for some international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
