Which companies in Texas sponsor visas for software quality engineers?
Several large Texas-based employers have consistent H-1B sponsorship records for software quality engineer roles, including Dell Technologies in Round Rock, Texas Instruments in Dallas, AT&T in Dallas, Oracle in Austin, and Amazon Web Services with operations across the state. Defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies, both with significant Texas footprints, also sponsor SQEs, particularly those with systems testing or embedded software experience.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software quality engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. L-1B visas are used when engineers transfer within multinational companies. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which has no lottery and can be faster to obtain.
Which cities in Texas have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for software quality engineer sponsorship activity, driven by a dense concentration of tech companies and startups. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, with major enterprise tech firms, financial services companies, and telecom giants headquartered there. Houston adds demand through its energy technology and aerospace sectors. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity and defense tech corridor that also generates SQE openings.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search software quality engineer roles in Texas without manually screening each posting. The platform surfaces employers with active sponsorship programs across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Because SQE roles vary in title across companies, searching related terms like QA engineer or test engineer on Migrate Mate can broaden your results within Texas.
Are there any Texas-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software quality engineers?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages but does not change federal H-1B prevailing wage requirements. The state's large university system, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, produces a steady pipeline of software engineering graduates, which increases competition for sponsored roles locally. Texas also hosts several H-1B-heavy industries beyond pure tech, including semiconductor manufacturing and defense, giving SQEs more employer options than in many other states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
