Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for software quality engineers?
Epic Systems in Verona, Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, Johnson Controls in Milwaukee, and Fiserv in Brookfield are among the Wisconsin employers with established records of sponsoring work visas for software quality engineers. Smaller software firms and contract manufacturers in the Fox Valley region also hire QA engineers, though their sponsorship frequency varies considerably by company size and hiring volume.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality engineers in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some employers also sponsor L-1B visas for engineers transferring from an affiliated foreign office. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying engineering credentials.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Madison leads Wisconsin for software QA sponsorship activity, largely driven by Epic Systems and the broader University of Wisconsin tech corridor. Milwaukee follows closely, with demand from Rockwell Automation, Johnson Controls, and Fiserv. The Fox Valley area around Appleton and Oshkosh generates additional QA demand from manufacturing and industrial automation firms that rely on embedded software testing and validation teams.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to find software quality engineer roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface active openings at Wisconsin employers across Madison, Milwaukee, and the Fox Valley. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual job postings to determine sponsorship status.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific factors that affect sponsorship for software quality engineers?
Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development prevailing wage data influences what employers must pay sponsored QA engineers, which shapes how companies budget sponsorship decisions. The University of Wisconsin-Madison produces a steady pipeline of engineering graduates, meaning employers may have more local candidates to consider. However, specialized QA skills in test automation frameworks, embedded systems validation, or healthcare IT compliance continue to drive sponsorship activity across the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
