Which companies sponsor visas for software quality engineers in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based employers are the most active sponsors, including Salesforce, Eli Lilly, Cummins, and Anthem (now Elevance Health). Defense and manufacturing contractors in Fort Wayne, along with healthcare technology firms statewide, also have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for software quality engineering roles. Sponsorship activity and hiring volume vary by company and year, so checking current job postings is the most reliable way to confirm availability.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT work authorization are also commonly hired by Indiana employers before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Indiana have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the largest share of software quality engineer sponsorship jobs in Indiana, driven by its concentration of technology, healthcare IT, and financial services employers. The Lafayette and West Lafayette area benefits from proximity to Purdue University, which generates a consistent pipeline of engineering talent and attracts tech-oriented employers. Fort Wayne has a smaller but active market, particularly among manufacturing and defense technology firms that require embedded and systems quality engineers.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. You can filter by role and state to surface software quality engineer positions in Indiana where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always clearly stated in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that focuses on sponsoring employers saves significant time compared to manually screening general job listings.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for software quality engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana employers sponsoring H-1B workers must pay the prevailing wage as determined by the Department of Labor for the specific location and role. Indianapolis and other metro areas have their own prevailing wage determinations, which differ from national averages. Indiana's strong life sciences cluster, anchored by companies like Eli Lilly and Cook Medical, means software quality engineers with experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical or medical device software may find more sponsorship-receptive employers in this state than in a general tech market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
