Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for software quality engineers?
Principal Financial Group, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Collins Aerospace, Corteva Agriscience, and Plex Systems have documented H-1B sponsorship activity for technology roles including software quality engineers. Iowa's strong insurance, agribusiness, and manufacturing software sectors mean QA engineering demand extends beyond purely tech-focused employers, giving candidates multiple industries to target.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software quality engineers in Iowa, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT status often enter Iowa employers through that pathway first, with H-1B sponsorship following.
Which cities in Iowa have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines concentrates the majority of Iowa's software quality engineer sponsorship opportunities, driven by its financial services and insurance technology sector. Cedar Rapids is the second most active market, with employers in aerospace and manufacturing software. Iowa City and Ames see smaller but steady demand, often connected to university research commercialization and healthcare IT.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Iowa employers actively hiring software quality engineers who need work authorization. Rather than sorting through general job listings manually, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed, which is particularly useful for QA engineers targeting Iowa's fintech, agribusiness software, and aerospace sectors.
Are there any Iowa-specific factors software quality engineers should know before pursuing sponsorship?
Iowa employers sponsoring H-1B visas must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for software quality engineer roles in the relevant metro area, which differs between Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and smaller markets. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into local industry roles, meaning some Iowa employers have established sponsorship pipelines and existing immigration counsel relationships.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
