Which companies sponsor visas for software quality engineers in Kentucky?
Louisville-based Humana is among the most active tech employers in Kentucky and has a history of H-1B visa sponsorship for engineering roles. Lexmark International in Lexington, Tempur Sealy, and regional healthcare IT firms also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for software quality and testing positions. Consulting firms and staffing companies with Kentucky operations have also filed for SQE roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software quality engineers in Kentucky, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation standard requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. TN visa status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can also work while an employer pursues H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Louisville and Lexington account for the majority of software quality engineer sponsorship activity in Kentucky. Louisville's concentration of healthcare, logistics, and financial services companies drives the most consistent demand. Lexington is home to Lexmark and a growing university-adjacent tech sector connected to the University of Kentucky. Outside these two cities, sponsorship opportunities are considerably more limited.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters job listings by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search directly for software quality engineer roles in Kentucky without sorting through positions that won't support sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers who have an active sponsorship history, which is particularly useful in a mid-sized market like Kentucky where not every company has prior experience with the H-1B process.
Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for software quality engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Kentucky's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B LCAs are benchmarked to Louisville and Lexington metro areas separately, so the wage level your employer must meet depends on the work location. The University of Kentucky and University of Louisville produce a steady pipeline of engineering graduates, which means employers in those cities are more familiar with international hiring processes. SQE candidates with experience in healthcare IT or manufacturing software will find the strongest alignment with Kentucky's dominant industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
