Which companies sponsor visas for software quality engineers in Kansas?
The most active visa sponsors for software quality engineers in Kansas include Garmin in Olathe, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City, and T-Mobile's regional engineering offices. Wichita-based aerospace firms like Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation also sponsor QA engineers, particularly for roles supporting DO-178C software certification in avionics. Sponsorship history varies by team and hiring cycle, so confirm directly with each employer.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for software quality engineers in Kansas, as QA engineering roles that require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field generally qualify as specialty occupations. Employers with existing immigration programs may also sponsor L-1B transfers for intracompany engineers. Some roles at research-adjacent organizations may qualify for O-1 visa consideration depending on the applicant's credentials.
Which cities in Kansas have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro, particularly Olathe, Overland Park, and Lenexa on the Kansas side, accounts for the majority of software quality engineer sponsorship activity in the state. These suburbs host regional headquarters for technology, financial services, and telecommunications employers. Wichita is the secondary hub, driven by aerospace and defense contractors that rely heavily on software QA for safety-critical embedded systems.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles, and you can filter directly by state and job title to surface software quality engineer openings in Kansas. This makes it easier to identify employers with active sponsorship programs rather than manually researching each company. Roles in Olathe, Overland Park, and Wichita appear most frequently for QA engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software quality engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have a state income tax on wages for software quality engineers in the same way some other states do, which can affect compensation comparisons when evaluating offers. Aerospace-focused QA roles in Wichita often require familiarity with FAA regulatory standards and DO-178C avionics software guidelines, which can strengthen a sponsorship case by demonstrating highly specialized expertise. University of Kansas and Kansas State produce local engineering talent, but employer pipelines for sponsored hires remain active.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
