INTRODUCTION
The Delaware Department of Labor is seeking a motivated intern to gain hands-on experience in workforce development and public service. This position offers the opportunity to develop office, customer service, and administrative skills while assisting clients with Delaware JobLink registration, workforce programs, and other employment-related services.
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Delaware Department of Labor is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to gain hands-on experience in workforce development and public service. This internship provides an opportunity to learn office operations, customer service, and program administration while supporting initiatives that help Delaware residents access employment and career resources.
The selected intern will develop proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, assist with administrative and clerical duties, attend meetings and record minutes, and support the processing of APEX applications. The intern will also assist clients with pardon and expungement paperwork, provide guidance on Delaware JobLink (DJL) registration, and deliver exceptional customer service to individuals seeking workforce services.
Through job shadowing and direct involvement in daily operations, the intern will gain valuable insight into the Department of Labor's mission, workforce programs, and the services provided to Delaware job seekers and employers.
This opportunity is ideal for students who are organized, self-motivated, possess strong communication skills, pay close attention to detail, and are interested in gaining practical experience in government, workforce development, human services, public administration, or related fields.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Data Entry & Database Management
Interns will assist with organizing and maintaining accurate client and case data by:
- Transferring written or case notes into numerical/database format
- Reviewing and manually confirming that all information entered is accurate and complete
- Ensuring all pertinent client and case details are properly documented
2. Pardon Application Preparation
Interns will support the pardon application process by assisting with:
- Entering pardon-related data compiled by Andrew and Dominique into PDF pardon applications
- Reviewing and organizing supporting materials, including:
- Client SBI reports
- Court records
- Client data and case narratives
- Helping ensure applications are complete and prepared for timely submission
3. DJL Enrollment Support
Interns will provide assistance with enrolling new APEX clients into DJL by:
- Supporting new client enrollments and account setup
- Providing direct, in-person support to clients when needed
- Assisting clients through the enrollment process to improve successful completion rates
4. DJL Documentation Uploads
Interns may assist with administrative tracking tasks by:
- Uploading worksheets and supporting documents into DJL
- Maintaining organized digital records for improved case tracking and management
- Assisting with document organization and file maintenance
5. Case Management Follow-Up Calls
Because pardon and expungement applications are time-sensitive, interns will help monitor case progress by:
- Conducting follow-up calls with clients regarding outstanding documentation or next steps
- Tracking client progress throughout each pardon phase
- Assisting with deadline management to ensure applications are submitted within required timelines
- Helping maintain communication between clients and case managers
