Which companies sponsor visas for interns in New Hampshire?
BAE Systems in Nashua and Manchester is among the most active sponsors for engineering and technology interns in New Hampshire. Dartmouth Health in the Upper Valley hires sponsored interns in healthcare and research roles. Financial services firms like Liberty Mutual and technology employers in the Manchester-Nashua corridor also participate in intern sponsorship, particularly for students on F-1 OPT or CPT.
Which visa types are most common for intern roles in New Hampshire?
Most international interns in New Hampshire work under F-1 CPT or F-1 OPT authorization, which allows students enrolled at U.S. universities to work in roles directly related to their field of study without requiring a separate employer-filed visa petition. J-1 visa Exchange Visitor status is also common, particularly for structured internship programs at research institutions and hospitals. H-1B visa sponsorship for internships is rare due to the cap and cost.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most intern sponsorship jobs?
Manchester and Nashua account for the majority of intern sponsorship opportunities in New Hampshire, driven by defense contractors, technology companies, and financial services firms concentrated in the southern part of the state. The Upper Valley region, anchored by Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Health, generates a steady pipeline of sponsored intern roles in research, engineering, and healthcare administration.
How to find intern visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate filters intern job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify New Hampshire employers who have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through unfiltered postings, you can search directly for intern roles in Manchester, Nashua, or the Upper Valley on Migrate Mate and see which employers are actively hiring sponsored interns in sectors like defense technology, life sciences, and financial services.
Are there state-specific considerations for international interns in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire has no state income tax on wages, which is a practical consideration when comparing internship offers across states. For F-1 students, internships must be authorized through CPT or OPT and directly related to the declared major, regardless of the employer or location. Students at New Hampshire institutions like UNH, Dartmouth, or Southern New Hampshire University should coordinate with their Designated School Official before accepting any sponsored intern role to confirm authorization timing.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored intern jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
