Which companies sponsor visas for interns in Ohio?
Several large Ohio-based employers have established records of sponsoring international interns. Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Nationwide and JPMorgan Chase in Columbus, and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland regularly hire interns and have the HR infrastructure to support visa processes. Smaller tech firms in the Columbus and Dayton corridors also participate, though sponsorship availability varies by program and fiscal year.
Which visa types are most common for intern roles in Ohio?
F-1 CPT and OPT are the most common work authorizations for interns in Ohio, used by international students enrolled at Ohio universities. J-1 visa intern and trainee designations through authorized sponsors are also widely used, particularly for structured corporate programs. H-1B visa sponsorship for interns directly is rare, as it requires full-time specialty occupation employment rather than a student internship arrangement.
Which cities in Ohio have the most intern sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads the state for intern sponsorship volume, driven by its large employer base in tech, finance, and insurance. Cincinnati ranks second, anchored by consumer goods, healthcare, and manufacturing firms. Cleveland offers strong opportunities in healthcare systems and financial services. Dayton has a presence in aerospace and defense internships, particularly connected to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base contractors.
How to find intern visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters intern roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from sifting through listings that won't support your status. You can search by city, industry, and role type to find programs at employers who have sponsored before. Migrate Mate's focus on sponsorship-verified listings makes it particularly useful for F-1 students on CPT or OPT timelines.
Are there state-specific considerations for international interns in Ohio?
Ohio's large public university network, including Ohio State, University of Cincinnati, and Case Western Reserve, means many employers are familiar with F-1 CPT and OPT processes. International students should confirm that their university's international student office has authorized CPT before starting any internship. J-1 interns must work with a designated sponsor organization, and the internship must align with their field of study or career development plan.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored intern jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
