Which companies sponsor visas for AI ML engineers in Florida?
Several Florida employers have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories for AI and ML engineering roles. These include Chewy, headquartered in Dania Beach, defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and L3Harris in the Orlando area, and health technology companies concentrated in Tampa and Miami. Larger financial services firms in Boca Raton and Jacksonville also hire ML engineers with visa sponsorship. Sponsorship willingness varies by company size and hiring volume, so verifying each employer's LCA filing history through public DOL records is worth doing.
Which visa types are most common for AI ML engineering roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI and ML engineers in Florida, as these roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a closely related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Canadian and Mexican nationals can pursue TN visa status under the USMCA. O-1A visas are an option for engineers with documented exceptional achievements, such as published research or significant industry recognition.
Which cities in Florida have the most AI ML engineering sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for AI and ML engineering sponsorship activity, driven by its growing tech startup scene and proximity to Latin American markets attracting investment. Orlando follows closely, anchored by defense and simulation industry employers and proximity to UCF's research programs. Tampa has a rising profile thanks to cybersecurity and health tech companies. Gainesville, home to the University of Florida, also generates sponsorship roles tied to academic and research-adjacent employers.
How to find ai ml engineering visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles, including AI and ML engineering positions in Florida. You can filter directly by state and role type to see employers actively hiring with sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job listings for sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate also provides context on visa categories relevant to your background, helping you focus your applications on employers and roles where your profile is the strongest fit.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for AI ML engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since DOL wage determinations are set at the federal level by metropolitan area. Engineers targeting Miami-Fort Lauderdale or Tampa-St. Petersburg will find prevailing wage benchmarks set for those specific metros, not statewide. Florida's defense and aerospace corridor around Orlando means many roles involve government contracts, which can add security clearance requirements that complicate or limit sponsorship eligibility for foreign nationals early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineering jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
