Which companies sponsor visas for electrical controls engineers in Florida?
Florida's largest visa sponsors for electrical controls engineers include Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman on the Space Coast, Siemens and Honeywell in the Tampa and Orlando areas, and L3Harris Technologies in Palm Bay. Aerospace and defense primes tend to have in-house immigration counsel and sponsor H-1B visa and TN visas with more regularity than smaller regional manufacturers.
Which visa types are most common for electrical controls engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electrical controls engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals often qualify for the TN visa under the engineer category, which does not require a lottery and can be faster to obtain.
Which cities in Florida have the most electrical controls engineer sponsorship jobs?
Melbourne and Palm Bay on the Space Coast concentrate the highest density of sponsoring employers, driven by aerospace and defense manufacturing. Orlando follows closely due to its semiconductor, automation, and simulation technology sectors. Tampa has a growing industrial automation cluster, and Jacksonville sees demand from naval and defense supply chain operations.
How to find electrical controls engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search electrical controls engineer roles in Florida without manually screening hundreds of postings. The platform surfaces positions from aerospace, defense, and industrial automation employers across the Space Coast, Orlando, and Tampa corridors who have an active history of sponsoring international candidates.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors for electrical controls engineer sponsorship in Florida?
Florida's concentration of defense contractors means many electrical controls engineer positions require security clearance eligibility, which can complicate sponsorship timelines since some clearances are restricted to U.S. citizens. Employers in commercial aerospace and industrial automation generally have fewer clearance restrictions. Florida has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons when evaluating offers across states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical controls engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
