What you will do
Drive the engineering and execution behind innovative HVAC solutions at Johnson Controls! As a Senior Electrical Designer, you’ll coordinate engineering design and order processing for both standard and highly customized customer HVAC orders, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness from concept through delivery. You’ll also play a key role in supporting design updates and process improvements for legacy HVAC products, helping extend performance and value across our portfolio.
We’re looking for a highly motivated professional who brings creativity, technical expertise, and a problem-solving mindset to a world-class organization—someone who is energized by delivering impactful solutions. This position is onsite at our Largo, FL, facility. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility.
How you will do it
- Provides frequent, significant support to other teams and suppliers. Develops innovative designs and solutions for custom orders based on customer specific requirements. Accurately and quickly processes customer orders by designing new components and bills of materials.
- Takes ownership of design and part selection of multiple JCI products and becomes the subject matter expert in them.
- Executes design improvements to optimize manufacturability and increase product quality.
- Defines and/or interprets electrical wiring and control requirements for products.
- Defines and performs product prototype building and evaluation. Calculates product cost working with Corporate standards.
- Assists product launch with field installation evaluation.
- Collaborates with production to build prototype and mockup products.
What you will need
Required
- Associate Degree in electrical engineering/technology or equivalent trade school certificate.
- Clear understanding of Ohm’s law and standard electrical calculations.
- Ability to obtain and interpret datasheets for electrical and control components.
- Ability to determine electrical wiring requirements.
- Design for manufacturability concept knowledge and application with emphasis on electrical wiring.
- Electrical schematic design using CAD software.
- Electrical component/panel layout using CAD.
- Bill of material structures and databases.
- Engineering change management.
- Manufacturing electrical support.

- 3D CAD design - Solidworks
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - 85,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
