Which companies sponsor visas for laboratory professionals in Florida?
Moffitt Cancer Center, Labcorp, Quest Diagnostics, AdventHealth, and the University of Florida Health system have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for laboratory roles. Pharmaceutical manufacturers concentrated in the Tampa Bay and Miami corridors, including smaller biotech firms, also file LCA applications for positions such as clinical laboratory scientist, research associate, and quality control analyst.
Which visa types are most common for laboratory roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for laboratory scientists and research professionals in Florida, as roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, biology, or a related life science typically qualify as specialty occupations. Clinical laboratory scientists licensed under Florida state requirements may also attract EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petitions from larger hospital systems and reference labs with established sponsorship programs.
Which cities in Florida have the most laboratory sponsorship jobs?
Tampa and Miami lead for laboratory sponsorship activity, driven by pharmaceutical manufacturing, hospital networks, and biotech research firms. Orlando has a growing concentration of clinical and diagnostic laboratory employers tied to its major hospital systems. Gainesville stands out for academic and agricultural research roles linked to the University of Florida, which has a consistent history of sponsoring international laboratory and research staff.
How to find laboratory visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters laboratory job listings in Florida specifically to employers with active visa sponsorship, saving you time compared to reviewing unfiltered postings. You can search by role type, such as clinical laboratory scientist or research associate, and narrow results to Florida cities like Tampa, Miami, or Gainesville. Migrate Mate's listings focus on positions where the employer has indicated willingness to sponsor work visas.
Are there state-specific considerations for laboratory visa sponsorship in Florida?
Florida requires clinical laboratory scientists to hold a state license issued by the Florida Department of Health, and employers filing H-1B petitions for these roles must demonstrate the position meets specialty occupation standards. Prevailing wage levels in Florida are set by the Department of Labor and vary by metro area, with Tampa and Miami generally carrying higher benchmarks than smaller markets. International candidates should confirm their credentials meet Florida licensure requirements before beginning the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored laboratory jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
