Which companies sponsor visas for product development engineers in Florida?
Several large Florida employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for engineering roles. Aerospace and defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, and L3Harris Technologies, headquartered or operating in the Space Coast and Orlando regions, regularly file Labor Condition Applications for product development engineers. In the medical device sector, companies like Medtronic and Stryker have Florida operations that hire and sponsor international engineering talent.
Which visa types are most common for product development engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for product development engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. Employers also sponsor L-1B visas for engineers transferring from an overseas office within the same company. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is processed faster than the H-1B visa.
Which cities in Florida have the most product development engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Space Coast, centered on Melbourne and Titusville, concentrates aerospace and defense engineering roles near Kennedy Space Center. Orlando supports a broad mix of simulation technology, defense, and consumer electronics engineering employers. Tampa and St. Petersburg host a growing medical device and life sciences corridor. Miami increasingly attracts technology companies, particularly in consumer products and hardware, where product development engineers are in demand.
How to find product development engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically by role and state, so you can browse product development engineer openings in Florida without sifting through listings that don't sponsor. The platform focuses on international job seekers, which means the roles displayed are sourced with sponsorship in mind. Filtering by Florida on Migrate Mate surfaces relevant openings across the Space Coast, Orlando, Tampa, and Miami markets in one place.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for product development engineers in Florida?
Florida's concentration of aerospace and defense employers introduces one important consideration: many roles in that sector require security clearances, which can complicate or preclude sponsorship for candidates who are not U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and Florida International University all produce engineering graduates who enter the local talent pool, giving regional employers experience working with international students on OPT who later transition to H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product development engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
