Your role at Clorox:
The Plant Engineering Manager (PEM) leads the site’s engineering function and team to enable safe, reliable, and cost effective manufacturing through Operations Excellence. This role owns the capital portfolio, engineering standards, automation/controls strategy, and MES/OT enablement at the Atlanta West Plant. The PEM partners closely with Operations and Maintenance (primary internal customers) to ensure day to day engineering support is responsive and that long term strategic capital plans directly align with customer needs, site strategy, and business priorities.
In this role, you will:
People & Cross‑Functional Leadership:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing engineering team (project, process, and controls/MES engineers).
- Establish a customer‑centric culture with Operations and Maintenance as core partners; set clear service levels and escalation paths.
- Build engineering capability in change management, Operations Readiness, and early management to ensure smooth startups and upgrades.
- Champion Operations Excellence (OpEx) principles and data‑driven decision making across the plant.
Operations Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide hands‑on, timely engineering support that improves safety, quality, OEE, and cost (e.g., quick wins, microstop elimination, line balance, bottleneck relief).
- Drive loss elimination and productivity through structured problem solving (5‑Why, fishbone, DMAIC) and standard work.
- Translate production pain points into engineered solutions, ensuring robust handoffs, SOPs, and frontline training.
Capital & Project Portfolio Management:
- Own the site capital portfolio and fixed asset stewardship: develop multi‑year strategic capital plans aligned with plant strategy and customer needs.
- Govern projects via Clorox Project Management Standards (or equivalent stage‑gate): scope, schedule, cost, risk, commissioning/qualification, and early management.
- Lead/oversee external engineering partners and construction firms; ensure contractor safety and compliance with all site requirements.
Automation, Controls & Digital (MES/OT):
- Set the automation and controls strategy for the plant (PLC/HMI/DCS standards, safety systems, software lifecycle management).
- Partner with Corporate IT/OT and site stakeholders to maintain and improve MES and plant‑floor IT/OT infrastructure (servers, networking, historians, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA)—ensuring uptime, cybersecurity adherence, and life‑cycle plans.
- Lead or support ERP/MES/EWM integrations, upgrades, and Operations Readiness (user training, mock runs, cutover plans, ramp‑up stabilization).
- Expand use of plant data (e.g., OSIsoft PI/historians) for visibility and decision support.
Compliance, Risk & Stakeholder Management:
- Partner with EHS, Quality, Security, and Facilities to ensure designs and projects meet applicable regulations, permits, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain technical documentation (drawings, reports, calculations) and ensure audit readiness.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks (process safety, machine safety, cybersecurity, obsolescence) through engineering controls and governance.
What we look for:
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related).
- 6+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience in manufacturing.
- Demonstrated capital project or strategic project leadership (scoping through startup), with on‑time/on‑budget results.
- Hands‑on experience with MES and plant‑floor IT/OT infrastructure maintenance (e.g., PLC/HMI/SCADA, servers, networks, historians), partnering with IT/OT.
- Proven track record partnering with Operations and Maintenance to deliver OEE/throughput/safety/quality improvements.
- Controls/Automation proficiency (e.g., Allen‑Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk/SCADA; DeltaV or equivalent DCS; historians such as OSIsoft PI).
- Experience leading ERP/MES/EWM implementations or large digital upgrades with strong Operations Readiness and training programs.
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and ability to communicate technical topics to non‑technical audiences.
- Formal training or applied practice in Operations Excellence / TPM / Lean methods.
- Background in consumer packaged goods or similarly fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing.
- Competence in multiple engineering disciplines (packaging/process/controls/utility systems).
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SAP (or equivalent ERP), and engineering standards.
- Excellent vendor management and contractor oversight experience.
- Completion of a recognized Capital Project Management course or equivalent certification.

Which companies sponsor visas for engineering managers in Georgia?
Several large Georgia-based employers have a track record of sponsoring engineering managers, including NCR Voyix, Global Payments, Cox Enterprises, Equifax, and Delta Air Lines. Major tech employers with Atlanta offices, including Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce, also file H-1B petitions for engineering manager roles. Consulting firms like Accenture and Cognizant with Atlanta delivery centers are consistent sponsors as well.
Which visa types are most common for engineering manager roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering managers in Georgia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. L-1A visas are also used when candidates transfer from an overseas office into a managerial position at a U.S. entity. O-1 visas can apply for candidates with exceptional recognition in their field, though these are less frequently used.
Which cities in Georgia have the most engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the vast majority of engineering manager sponsorship activity in Georgia, driven by its concentration of fintech, logistics technology, media, and enterprise software companies. Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta, hosts a significant fintech and cybersecurity cluster with employers including NCR Voyix and Fiserv operations. Savannah and Augusta have smaller but growing tech presences tied to logistics and defense sectors respectively.
How to find engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a direct way to find engineering manager roles in Georgia filtered by sponsorship willingness. Because engineering manager positions require employers to file H-1B or L-1 petitions, searching Migrate Mate lets you focus on companies that have actively sponsored these roles rather than cold-applying to employers with no sponsorship history in Georgia.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering manager visa sponsorship in Georgia?
Georgia does not impose state-level visa or work authorization requirements beyond federal rules, but engineering managers should be aware that the DOL prevailing wage determination for their specific location matters. Atlanta's strong university pipeline, including Georgia Tech and Georgia State, means employers are familiar with sponsoring technical talent. Engineering manager roles typically fall under higher wage levels in prevailing wage calculations given their supervisory scope, which factors into how employers structure LCA filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering manager jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
